Regeneration

This is a repost from an rpg.net thread, I was wondering about the use of the following:

So, I'm looking at how to do a more 'passive' regeneration power, could I combine Healing linked with superspeed whose extra panel is only useable for using Healing? Would that allow the character to attack on panel 1, then use the second panel at the end of the round to regen?

Basically what I'm looking at is the kind of native regeneration that many famous comic characters have, without having to use an action.

I think super speed it specifically says you cannot heal with the extra panels.

One very easy way to represent "super regeneration" is with Armor. You heal so fast that the injuries recover almost instantly. If you want it to be vulnerable to burning, simply take Armor [Limitation: No effect vs. Fire] or something like that.

This question has come up in my home campaign a few times (and we've only been making characters for about 2 weeks).

I am going to allow one character to spend an enhancement to get healing that auto-applies once per X time period, but only when unconscious (and X is still under debate). The idea is that he can spend his panel to rest on his action during combat, and if he is too busy doing stuff then he isn't getting much healing done. But once he goes unconscious, he really is resting so it starts auto-applying periodically.

Then for in-combat active regen, we are using armor just like Bashman suggested. We decided the armor power represents damage mitigation generally, whether through invulnerability or healing or something else, rather than only "bullets bouncing off".

Interesting Lindharin, if you don't mind, post how the enhancement use is going here and if it's working well for the player after you play around with it some more.

Another idea: and I am not sure I would even allow this.
Buy Paired Weapons, or Swift Strike, etc. But put a limit on it that one of the "attacks: must be used for healing. This would allow you to attack , and heal at the same time. Any thoughts?

You cannot use any extra panels to heal. It says as much under Super-Speed. Since Paired Weapons and Swift Strike are only for making attacks, they likewise cannot be used to heal.

Honestly, IMO, the best way to model ultra-mega-fast healing is with the Armor power.

Hmmmm. It doesn't say that you could not Heal on your normal (1st) panel: just not on your extra panels...

[Oh oh, I fear Munchkin'ism is creeping in].

**Edit: Love the Armor as instant healing power. Fantastic! The difference between normal Soak and protection offered by "Armor" is the amount that is instantly healed. Going to have to find a character to use that one with.**

Make a Troll that has Super Regeneration: Armor 3 [Limitation: Won't work on Acid or Fire] heh heh heh.
