Thanks,
Let me first say... I honestly have no clue if this is right. I'm also getting more familiar with the rules overall, so your question sent me looking.
What I'd say is:
I can't find a general reference about power duration so I'm assuming that each power either:
1. works on time/use using its listed "Power Description", if it HAS either "Maintained" or "Sustained" then it follows those durations.
2. if a power does NOT have one of those descriptors, follow the text. Some powers note within the text it's time/use, example Confusion: Range, Area ... "This lasts until the target makes a 20 Mind check or 3 pages elapse (whichever comes first). You can
augment this power with range or area effects."
3. if neither of THOSE situations are present, I'm guessing it ends at the end of the next Page.
4. or the target can spend a Hero Die to "
Never Say Die!" and snap out of it.
Alternatively, if I haven't missed anything - starting to understand the core design philosophy a little more (ie. less is more, let the Narrator decide) ... the intent of the rules MIGHT mean to use similar power descriptions (like the one in Confusion for Weakened) as the base mechanic for effects that are unwanted that are ON other characters.
I quickly looked through and found these other powers that might have/need "end" conditions:
Continual Damage: if taking a hit, the damage continues each page until not hits taken.
Immobilization: until they break free.
Nullify: an entire scene.
Slow: 1 page.
Weaken: ??? (Could assume it works like Confusion, but contested with Brawn instead of Mind?)
Confusion: until target makes 20 Mind check or 3 pages elapse (whichever comes first)
Daze: until target makes 20 Mind check, one try per panel.
Illusion: (as in the example) until the target makes a Mind check (I assume this is a Mind check vs. Illusion power rank?? Or would it be a Mind vs. Mind contest?)
Memory Tampering: permanent.
Mind Control: until the target (or an ally) wins a Mind contest, or when the user takes damage.
Suggestion: permanent, if the target loses a Mind contest. (can't be used in combat)
Conjuring: permanent, until destroyed or user is KO'd.
Summoning: ??? (could assume it works like Conjuring)
Boost: ??? (seems like this might be meant to be Maintained or Sustained, but does list those descriptors)
Duplication: until destroyed (could assume it also works similar to Conjuring and would end if user is KO'd)
A quick simple paragraph or chart for all those powers with duration conditions would be helpful in the Errata.
Hope that helps a little, or at least spawns OTHERS that are more knowledgeable of the rules to help answer.
