Skillful

I have a question about the intense training power: Skillful

Does it just allow the character 2 extra skill "slots" per pt? The book uses the term skill "selections" which is confusing to me. And if is slots per point, then would the character still have to pay for the skills gained from these slots (as through normal skill purchase).

Take for example, the Wild Warrior archetype on page 112 of the core book. She buys skillfull 2 and can boost her outdoor skill speciality "survival" by +3 and and "any other" (within outdoor I'm guessing +1).

Now, presumably skillful 2 gives her 4 selections (slots?). Did this character choose to use these slots to increase her multipliers?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Slots, selections, choices, options... eh, same difference.

Yes- skillful slots can be used to increase multipliers, buy second specialties, etc.

Just to clarify this bit, I think the "+1 Any Other" is +1 to any other skill, not to a specialty within Outdoor. A bonus to the multiplier applies to the whole skill, including the specialty or specialties.

So, Wild Warrior has a Mind of 1, so her Outdoor skill is 1+3 = x4. If she is using the survival specialty, she rolls twice with a x4 multiplier, but if she is rolling for some other purpose like direction sense then she still rolls once at x4. The +1 Any Other means she could give herself a +1 on her Athletics or Stealth, whichever she prefers. Or, technically, instead of +1 to an existing skill pick, she could use that skill pick to gain a new specialty (like adding Running in addition to Athletics/Acrobatics), or she could add an entirely new skill and specialty like Domestic / Needlepoint (look, she already has the needles!) :)
