Multipower

I think I have it.
The base cost of the Multipower is the highest cost power. It then costs 1 more point if the other powers are in the same group, or 2 points otherwise. This 1 or 2 point cost is the same whether there are 2 powers in the multipower or 10 powers in it. It is not added per power.
Is this correct?
If it is, it seems the Light Master archetype has a typo in his multipower calculation.
Anyone help me out?

It costs 1 or 2 points per power added. So a Multipower of 3 powers would be based of the most expensive and then 1 or 2 point for each additional power added.
At least that's how I have been doing it.

In that case, I think MANY of the multipowers in the book's archetypes are wrong. BASHMAN, a little help here?

Um... I'm pretty sure multi-powers are limited to two powers. I know it doesn't say that exactly, but in the description for multipowers it says:
...can add another power...
These two powers cannot be...
And I haven't found a single archetype with a multi power that has more than two. Many of them seem that way because of the formatting, but if you break down the numbers you'll see that each multi has only a pair.

As does the Vampire Lord, I think.

You're right, there is a typo in the Force Multipower.
Force Multi-power, 6pts
* Telekinesis 5
* Force Field 5 [Enhancement: Variable]
The Force Field has an enhancement so is 6 pts by itself. Either the multipower should cost 7 total, or the Force Field needs to be reduced to 4 ranks.
And my understanding is that you can have more than 2 powers in a multipower. The Mentalist and Stretcher both have 4 powers in a multipower, for example.

See, here's an example of my confusion.
Stretcher (p. 110)
Movement Multi-Power: 5 pts.
4 powers, 2 pts. ea., all in same category.
This suggests Aslan's interpretation. 2 pts. for one, +1 more point for each extra power.
Stellar Sentinel (p. 119)
Offensive Multi-Power: 6 pts.
3 powers, 4 pts ea., not all in same category.
This suggests the interpretation in my original post. 4 pts. for one, +2 more points for any number of powers from any category.
Confusing.

Yeah, the cost of that multipower in the Stellar Sentinel is an issue.
Bashman has announced a new book called Awesome Power (if I recall correctly, drawing a blank at the moment). In it, there will be "suites" of powers that conceptually go together or are common tropes in comic books. And it adds the rule that it costs just 1 point per multipower slot if the powers are from the same suite, regardless of category.
I wonder if Bashman already had that idea in mind when working on the Stellar Sentinel and just priced the multipower based on it.
Based on the rules in Bash UE, though, I think that multipower should cost 8 pts instead of 6 pts.
Anyway,
here's a link to the posts that talk about this in the Errata thread.

um i think stretcher has two, two slot multipowers , one just for movement and one for stretching and mimicry
not to knit pick or anything

Nope. Look at the formatting. There is a point cost and then there are 4 powers without point costs and then there is another power with a point cost explicitly listed.

I was thinking the Movement multipower had four slots:
Movement Multi-power 5pts
Bouncing: Super Jump 2(40 squares)
Rebound: Super Speed 3 [Limitation: Movement Only]
Human Parachute: Glide 1 [Enhancement: Usable on Others]
Swinging 2 (12 squares)
Base power is Super Jump for 2 pts, with three other powers (also 2 pts each after enhancements and limitations) that add +1 point each, for the listed total of 5 pts.

You can have more than 2 powers in a multi-power.
There was an error in the Stellar Sentinel's writeup since Force Field and TK aren't in the same category.
In Awesome Power- there are two powers in the "Force" suite that are like Force Field and TK- which would mean they would count as the same category together.

Ya, I'm dumb. I totally missed blatant examples of multi's with more than two powers in the character archetypes.
Little by very little at a time, I think I'm finally starting to Get this game! LOL
