Attack and Damage Rolls

Hey there, all. New player.

There's this example on p. 26:

Blink takes 50 damage going for broke to power stunt Attack Weak Point, then takes 10 more damage for a Hero point to declare the attack roll to also be his damage roll.

What is this middle bit about using a hero point to make your attack roll your damage roll?

Also, I noticed that many of the example HQs had more advantages than disads. I know this game is not quite as balance-crazy as Champions, but is there something I missed or is this just handwaving?

Thanks!

Hi, and welcome!

If you look at the Attack Weak Point power, it has the ability to let you spend a hero point to use your attack roll (the dice roll, not the total after multiplier if I recall correctly) in place of your damage dice roll. So it isn't a general feature all characters have, only those who have Attack Weak Point.

I can't answer the HQ part, I haven't really looked closely at that yet and I only have a minute right now. I'm sure someone else will be able to help, though, or I will back later tonight.

HQs have a certain number of advantages for free. If you want more, then you have to take Disads.

Maybe if I finished reading the book before asking questions, I would be better off.

Great work, BASHMAN. Hits that sweet spot of around 3rd edition Champions for me. It's pretty great since I vowed never to play HERO again. I beg of you to avoid the temptation to insert more granularity to it!

More granularity- not in the official rules- only as a BAM! Article (which will be titled "Let's Get Granular"). It is of course, completely optional.
