Question about Membership Advantage

I'm trying to figure out this Advantage (from Awesome Powers #4). I understand how it works, it's the cost that confuses me. How is it paid? Are Membership Points the same as Character Points? Most Advantages are not paid with CP, however. (Unless you use the alternate rule from Ultimate Powers.) Is this an exception, or is this a way to figure its value in Disadvantages eg. does a 5-point Membership require the character take 5 Disadvantages (or gain 5 Setbacks, if that rule is used?)

Please answer ASAP as I'm working on describing a group of heroes (The Crystal Gems from Steven Universe) and I need this advantage for them.

No. The "points" for the Membership Advantage is totally arbitrary. It is a matter how many points the Narrator wants the players to have for their Membership.

The reason it is not a fixed amount is in comics, sometimes a "weak" character is a member of a majorly powerful team, or sometimes a very strong character is part of a team that is in and of itself, not all that powerful (relatively speaking).

What I'd recommend is design the Membership first, then see how many points it costs. But the point costs part really only matters for if the Narrator wants to put restrictions in there.

Ah, OK. I've already figured out the Crystal Gems' Membership cost; I just wanted to make sure if the advantage affected the value of the characters individually or not.
