Fleet of foot is a downgrade for characters with a brawn of2

This is a minor thing that's kinda been bothering me.
Fleet of foot of course modifies how you calculate your characters movement speed and how far they can jump. However, for jump, its only really an upgrade if your brawn is 1. If you have a brawn of 2, its actually a downgrade! And having a brawn above 2 makes it a huge downgrade.
Is this typo or am I reading it wrong? Essentially the book says your normal jumping distance is your brawn squared, but fleet of foot makes it so its instead equal to your brawn plus 1. So for instance, a brawn 2 character could normally jump 4 squares, but if they had fleet of foot, they could only jump 3?
Looking at the sample characters in the back, the 'barbarian warrior' has fleet of foot (and a brawn of 2, conveniently), and it says he has a jump distance of 5 squares. I don't understand what's going on here. Did it just add 1 to his normal jumping distance?
