Damage Aura
is Damage Aura meant to be sustatined or do you have to activate it every page - does it end at 'the end of your go'?
it says that if you hit someone with it you only roll for the power not the stat. However, wouldn't you roll both, but just separately? For example, if your Damage Aura was Heat based and you punch a minion, wouldn't you be hitting him with your fist AS WELL as the heat trapping from the power?
I presume that for the above power that Continual Damage is a good power to link it with?

I'd say that the narrator should judge whether the Damage Aura power is Maintained or Sustained based upon the nature of the power's description. If a psionic character can cause his skin's molecules to become agitated to the point of burning others if touched - then it would be Maintained. Lava man would most likely be Sustained.
A burning punch is probably better off as a Special Attack or maybe a Power Stunt/Trick to add to a normal punch.

I do like that but it is similar to a Special Attack I have planned.
I was wondering about this as a power on a similar theme:
Damage Aura 4 (Variable) (limitation: can choose between heat & cold trapping but not increase area)
LINKED
Continual Damage 4 (Variable) (limitation: can be used with cold or heat trappings but not range or area)
6 points
This basically would allow one to super heat/freeze their body, no larger an area and anyone touching them would take x4DM by ther continued damage.
However, I am not sure if it is valid

I think it is perfectly valid, and I don't think it is against the rules. It just does something a little different, is all. You get two x4 damage under slightly different circumstances. Neither of these would add to any melee damage you did from throwing a punch, but they would contribute their x4 attacks at the appropriate times. You would get 3 less powerful attacks in some circumstances, but none would be as big as if you did a single special attack or added the aura damage to the punch.
Personally, I prefer a less dice intensive version as a GM, but some players love the chance to roll all them bones. This gives them that. If I were to get a chance to play instead of GM, I might well go with your version for the additional rolling.

I like that idea as well.Baelor wrote:The enhancement - Extra Effect could possibly be used to turn the two separate damage rolls into a single higher damage roll. So for an extra point, you get damage aura as usual, but can add it to your melee attack damage instead [a single x5, as opposed to a x3 and a x2, to use the example above].

Rather than Linked, I think "After Effect" might be more appropriate. You hit the person with your x4 Dmg fire aura, and if they take damage from it, next turn they take x4 Continual Damage (they're still on fire).AngryGhost wrote:I do like that but it is similar to a Special Attack I have planned.

Yeah that does seem a better way.
Edit: just for our piece of mind...
We have, as part of a multipower, Damage Aura 5 (Variable) LINKED Continual Damage 5 (Variable)
This costs 8 points
It would cost the same if we chose After-Effect instead of linked I believe.
The only real difference I can see, is with Linked your opponent has to defend against two separate attacks, and with After-Affect they only have to defend against one. Except After-Affect begins the next turn, if successful.
Both of which have their advantages and disadvantages for both you and your opponents from what I can tell.
Is this right?

Just another quick question:
As it explicitly says that if you use Damage Aura it to attack you don't use stats, it leads me to assume that if some one hits you, you do add the stat to your level in DA. Is this correct?
With DF, based off DA, do you just use he power level for damage or do you use the stat too?
