Basic Action Super Heroes!

What would you say: does a hero with the Animation power have to touch the things he wants to animate unless he bought the range enhancement and a range? Or is he able to animate anything in sight?

I was wondering especially because a hero is able to animate more than one "lesser" minion with the power...

You should not need to touch the object. Assume within 5 SQ and Line of Sight.
