Hi there everyone, used to post, used to game, started breeding and have been away for some time.
That being the case I have some time to run a one off with two players using a couple of pre gens. I was about to suggest Weather Controller on Page 112 but can't for the life of me work out how the build cost of the powers adds up to 13.
Lets assume that Weather Mastery, Flying and Resistance all add up to 7 leaving:
weather Multi-power 6pts
Wind: Push 3 (Enhancement: Variable)
Lightning: Special Attack 3 (Enhancement: Variable)
Ice Capture: Immobilization 4 (20 Brawn) Range 5 Small Burst
I have Push = 3 pt Enhancement = 1pt
Special Attack = 3 pt Enhancement = 1pt
Immobilization = 4pt and I take it the Range 5 and Small Burst are standard?
Now that would be 12 points, but as it is bought as a multi-power it's 4 for the first power +1 for the second and +1 for the third = 6pts?
Now I think I've worked this out as I've typed it (and gone over and over it with my wife!) ...so this might be a little wasted exercise.
However, I think I (we) are still having difficulties with Immobilization in it and it's point cost.
After we realised that Range 5 wasn't 5 points in range, but rather +1 point of range (close) at 5 squares we guessed that it would cost 1 point for small burst also. - But do these points come free with the power or are they negated by the fact that the Immobilization is at (20 Brawn) rather than 40 as we had thought it would be?
I think my brain might have made a bit of a mess.
Could someone break it down for me?
(hope it makes sense!)
Aside: BASHMAN!, I'm a little out of the loop, the reprint, is it going to be full colour + hardback (fingers crossed!), my copy of BASH is now starting to fall apart...

Yeah, in my post I said I understood that. My issue is with understanding Immbilization to make it work as part of the multi-power.Boost wrote:Weather Master 4 (Broad) 5pts, Flying 1, Resistance 1, Weather Multi-Power 6
5+1+1+6=13
I'll write it again.

If you could address this bit I would appreciate it more.

X-mastery is not intended to duplicate other powers, just fill in the gaps between the "combat powers", it's almost a "flavor power".
I like the Power Trick option found in BAM #5 that lets someone with X-Mastery spend a Hero Point to use X-Mastery to mimic another power for one page. That way your Weather Controller could fly or call down a lightning bolt without completely making the other powers pointless to take.
The utility of Power Tricks is heavily dependent on how many Hero Points the narrator gives out though.

Since the topic of reprint was brought up I'll address this here:Boost wrote:Oh, apologies, they are negated by the fact that Immobilization is at 20 Brawn. Immobilization 2 pts into brawn, 1 into range, 1 into burst.
One of the things that is being cleaned up in the reprint is a discrepancy between how the rules were explained and how the builds were presented.
As explained, it says that you list the powers level, and seperately add points for Range, Area, etc. But in the builds it shows these as part of the power's level. That is not how it should be. So I fixed all the builds to be written as the rules explain them. This doesn't change the point costs for the builds, just makes them easier to understand how the points add up. (There were some builds where I fixed point costs that were wrong) Also added that you can have a power like "Special Attack" or "Push" at level 0 so that if all you want to do is add range and area, you can do that too.
As for the reprint it is going to be in color but not hardback. However, it will be printed by a different printer chosen by Cubicle 7 and presumably sturdier.
