Possession and "sinking"

Post by themaster408 »

Ghost form mentions sinking if you don't have flight (or hover I assume). My friend just wants to do possession. Does he have to buy flight or hover still? Also, if he didn't do that, at what rate are you sinking? Can you still move around at all?

When you do those, will you have the stats of the guy you possess technically? That the bad guy has to die before you get hurt (then act like cover with remaining damage going to your character?

Couple more questions...

My friend Hez has ghost form always on. This makes him immume to normal attacks, he is also undead advantage (he's a ghost actually). He is immune to psionic and mind control. How can I actually hurt him? What kind of "energy" attack would hurt him?
If he possesses a bruiser bad guy and I have the boss do a fire energy attack, does it hurt the bruiser, Hez's character, or both? I thought it may be like cover with hit by 10 to hit Hez or you just have to be aware that Hez is possessing that bruiser. Also thought maybe if you shoot the bruiser and it killed him, excess damage would hurt Hez (like cover), but since his ghost form is always on...

He's doing Mind Control 5, linked 2 to Ghost Form 3, range 2.
Does this mean it's range to possess is 5X5 (cost of mind control X5 for the 2 points in range), or 5X7 (cost of mind control with linked)?

If he's only using Ghost Form to possess people, then he doesn't need hovering.

Regarding how to hurt him: Well Fire should hurt him, as would lasers, or sonic energy. "Holy" attacks definitely should hurt him.

I made a Ghost character who had the "Vulnerability: Silver" weakness, which meant that his Ghost Form did not prevent him from taking damage from anything silver; it treated him as a solid object.

Also don't forget that ANY power can be bought with the "Affects X" Enhancement, so you could have a magic sword with "Affects Ghost Form" as an enhancement. You can have an exorcist with Daze or Mind Spikes with the "Affects Undead" Enhancement.

If you are possessing someone, you take any damage the body would take, assuming you aren't immune to that type of damage. So if the body is riddled with bullets, they don't hurt him. But if they are burnt with fire, it would. Both characters take the same damage, but they soak it separately. So if you roll 50 fire damage, they both have to soak the 50, but if Bruiser rolls 9x5 = 45 soak, he only takes 5 damage, while Ghost rolls 3x1 = 3 Soak, he takes 47 damage.

Also, is his Possession Power something that can be interrupted by damage? Does it have the "Maintained" or "Concentration" quality? If so, he'd lose control over the victim at that point. He can spend his next turn re-establishing the control.

I don't get what the Range is on? Mind Control is normally line of sight to about 5 squares or so as the "normal" range. If he has Ghost Form LINKED to Mind Control, he needs to touch the person to take over their body. Otherwise it is just like he's remote-controlling the person, instead of controlling from the inside.

I was basically figuring out how he could possess at range without having to touch the guy. Hez wants to possess from far away. So since it's Mind Control linked with Ghost Form, he can possess from line of sight without having to buy any range?

Thank you for the information (and an easy way to counter his ghost form). We ran a battle and I got my butt handed to me as the main villain got possessed and any time he resisted, he would get possessed 1 turn later.

Note: if he has Ghost Form: LINKED to Mind Control this is a problem. It means he CANNOT use Ghost Form UNLESS he is also using Mind Control.

In other words, whenever he is not-Mind-controlling someone, he is solid. This is similar to the powers of Jericho from Teen Titans.

If that is not the effect he wants, and he is a ghost all the time, then he needs to buy the powers seperately from each other.
