Progression on the BAM villain article

Post by MrJupiter »

It’s been a month and here’s what we have so far for the BASH! Forum Presents:

A Rogues Gallery - Villains for Your BASH! UE Games

Completed characters:
By Protheuz (including great images by their creator)

Ammatos, the first: Influential leader of the Order of the Iron Cross.
Zoler, the second: Powerful and skillful paladin serving the order; driven by self perfection.
Orthian, the third: Serving the order as Master of Rituals; he is very proficient in dark magics.

By MrJupiter (three with sketches by kroh)

Broad Brawler: Strong and brutal thug for hire.
Double Trouble: A pair of deadly combatants that are also surprisingly good at watching each others back.
Spectrus: A ghostly opponent that refuses to ‘cross over’.
Kamilla: This genetic creation has various reptilian abilities and malice toward the agencies of “Law”.
Radian: Emitting various radioactive attacks, this menace seeks greed and power.

Characters with stats and powers, and just awaiting descriptive elements:

By Jason_Sunday

Boogie Knight: This brute can tear it up on the dance floor and thrash it out in melee thanks to the deadly, dazzling, and unbreakable disco ball and chain.

By DARKMATTER

Tech-Litch: This undead villain uses high-tech armor and fearsome technologies with the aim of bringing us all into the afterlife!
Demona: A seductive demoness able to beguile and confuse the unwary.
Wild-Man: A sasquatchian opponent whose return from the wilderness heralds destruction and eco-terrorism.

That’s twelve villains so far and it’s not too late for anyone to add to this impressive roster with another villain or two.

One thing these villains could use, however, is some great pictures to accompany them in the article. Many of them have fabrica generated images; but these can only be used at the forum. This is a for-free endeavor, so anyone that would like to donate their artistic talents to this project would be most welcome.

Please email me at bmarshnorman@yahoo.ca if there are any villains or artistic renderings that you’d like to contribute.

You know, this is already a LOT of characters (a full dozen). That should be plenty for an article.

Wow. This is awesome. And I've been lucky to get to see early drafts and loving them!!

Here's my thing.
I am excited to help the "All-New, All-Improved, BAM! Fanzine!" get rolling more. But I really hit a wall that I felt like I was alone in planning.

If I am wrong. I'm open to reopening the fun of thinking BAM! But... honestly, I put it on the back burner in favor of other great projects due to (what I thought/think?) is lack of enthusiasm and/or involvement from the FANS of this Fanzine.

Tell me I'm wrong. Tell me who and how we're ready to re-kick this pig!!! And I'm in! hehe.

GREAAAAAAAAAT work though Mr.J...
To be honest (as well) I just found a new sparkle in life. Her name is Anastasia. So I ... have been a little side-tracked to replying to BAM! and article things.
Or to coin a phrase... "Gams before BAM!s"...? hehe

Very true. There are still 4 of the characters awaiting the finishing touches needed before they can make it into the article. I guess that in the event we can’t get them completed then 8 villains might still be an acceptable number.

Thanks, you are the second person so far to refer to this other Mr Jupiter. Unfortunately, I was a Marvel-fan back then and never really followed much of DC comic lines. Mr Jupiter is actually a name evolvolution from an old Villains & Vigilantes hero I had made decades ago. Originally he was a Giant-Man knock-off that I had called Jupiter (after the largest planet of our solar system - giant sized hero >>>> giant sized planet - get it! It seemed like the perfect choice). The whole mystical spin (with the tie-in to the Roman version of Zeus) came to me a couple of years later and it was about that same time that I decided that the name needed a bit more spice, and added the "Mr.".

Anyways, I'm glad you like it. Sorry for not being up on the DC legacy for the name.

Yes! Thanks so much for all your great help, Dustland. I've forwarded Wild-Man over to DARKMATTER.

Tonight (after work) I'll be posting an update on the villain progress; but the project is definately nearing the home stretch!

Villain update!

BASH! Forum Presents:

A Rogues Gallery - Villains for Your BASH! UE Games

Is in the final stages of production
BASHMAN wrote:You know, this is already a LOT of characters (a full dozen). That should be plenty for an article.
This might be bad news then, because the feature now has the entire membership of: The FUNKY FOUR! So, in addition to Boogie Knight we have…

Disco Inferno: This guy is truly hot stuff; whether in a dance club or in a tussle!
Kool Cat: Leader of the Funky Four, this clever villain can infect you with a bad case of disco fever.
Foxy Lady: This woman is beautiful, mysterious, and very, very deadly!

It is at this point that villain submissions are now closed. With these three additions, the villain article now sits at an impressive 15 villains! By Monday, I’ve been assured that descriptive elements for Tech-Litch, Demona, and Wild-Man will be completed. This is more than I had originally believed would possible. With two villain teams (The Triumvirate of the Iron Cross, and the Funky Four) and 8 solo villains the article will have quite a great mix of evil offerings for BAM readers.

This is pretty impressive and I like to thank Proteuz, DARKMATTER, and Jason_Sunday for their great and diverse villain characters.

In the development of this project we’ve been fortunate enough to have a number of talented artists at this forum donate their talents in rendering these villains:

Kroh who made great sketches of Broad Brawler, Double Trouble, and Spectrus (he’s been busy with Zenith Comics projects lately and hasn’t been able to finish the works – though I’m still hoping he can find the time to do so).

Proteuz managed to take care of his own art needs by creating some very cool pictures for Ammatos, Zoler, and Orthian.

Dustland has jumped out form nowhere, creating five really great pieces for Tech-Litch, Kamilla, Wild-Man, Radian, and Demona at a blistering pace! Demona, as it turns out, will need just a little tweaking before gracing the pages of BAM (sorry Dustland, I hope your up to it!).

Ade Smith (Artbod – the artist behind the upcoming BASH Cavalcade book) managed to squeeze enough time between Cavalcade works to donate his talents towards the wonderfully illustrated Foxy Lady.

Thanks to everyone that has contributed to this massive project so far. I will start to compile all the material and pass it on to BASHMAN for the arduous job of cramming it into BAM #6.

BUT WAIT! While we’re in the home stretch, we are not out of the forest yet. There are still 3 villains needing artwork. Boogie Knight, Kool Cat, and Disco Inferno.

If you’d like to pitch in and be part of this awesome undertaking then please send me an email. I’ll be able to provide you with the descriptions needed. And remember: first bid gets first pick.

bmarshnorman@yahoo.ca

A dozen, or so, talented artists at the BASH forum and just 3 characters left to illustrate! Who needs optimism? This already sounds like a done deal to me.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks;
Ben

WHEW HOO – – I have finally finished the BAM villain article! All the characters are compiled, starting with the solo villains and finishing with the two villain groups.

It has been an educational and exciting experience putting this article together. I haven't had nearly enough free time to do this at a more adequate pace and I thank you, the BASH Forum community, for your patience in waiting for this project's completion.

I'd like to take this moment to thank all the contributors for the great character ideas. These villains are a truly creative and diverse bunch that will surely see lots of use in BASH games.

I’d also like to thank all the great artists that have illustrated this rogue’s gallery of evil. With varied styles, your skills have put faces to the textual descriptions of stats and backgrounds.

Contributors: Proteuz, DARKMATTER, Jason_Sunday, and myself.

Artists: Proteuz, kroh, Dustland, Artbod, and Alienmastermind.

I thank you all for your creativity, enthusiasm and patience. It has been a great experience and pleasure to work with you all.

With that, I now submit this body of collective work to BASHMAN for the arduous task of trying to cram these 15 characters into BAM. Good luck sir!

Ben
