Getting errors on Maptools

Post by Jason_Sunday »

I have been trying to check out the Bash! Framework for Maptools and I get an error message everytime I try and use a macro. I am using Maptools version 1.3.b70 The error message says "An unexpected error has occured." The following message is displayed in the details option:

Hi Jason,

I have only tried 1.3.b70 once, for a few minutes, but it worked fine. Let me try again.

If you are around right now, I'll try to host a game and see if you can connect. I'll call it "BASH Framework Test", and I won't set a password.

No trouble so far. What macro are you trying to use?

I'm going to go for the night. Let me know what macro you're talking about, and if possible maybe you could upload your .cmpgn file for me to download? Or we could try to set a time when we are both available to connect and troubleshoot it.

Ok I have updated Java. It seems to be working. I can't figure out how to make a character though.

Have you seen the "Creating New Tokens" on the framework instructions?

If you are still around, I just started a server. Feel free to pop in and I'll help walk you through it. Or suggest a time when we can get together. I'm generally available after 7 or 8 pm Eastern.

It's called BASH Framework Test. It is using version b70, since that is what Jason indicated he's trying to use. If you haven't upgraded to b70 yet, you can get it as either a zipped download or a web quick start.

Sigh... My router was messed up. So while the server was up, no one could connect anyway. :-) I've rebooted and fixed the issue.

I'm going to be on for a little bit yet. And I'll leave the automated server up even after I go to bed. The automated server is called "Lindharin's BASH Demo".

Jason, it has some character tokens that various people have created, so you can see what they look like, how to edit them, etc. And if you'd like to set a time to meet in the server and I can walk you through it, let me know...

I havent tried it on b70 but b63 it works great. IDK but it seems alot of folks claim b63 as the most stable build.

Yep, I stayed with b63 until last weekend. B70 is also stable, and it has a new feature we needed over the weekend (the ability to export/import individual maps).

There is one other new feature in b70 (actually b68+) that allows players to click on NPC tokens even when strict token ownership is turned on. This will introduce some new benefits down the line, but the way my existing framework works this means players can click on NPCs and see their sheets.

The fix for this is simple, and I've applied it in my home game. I'm planning on running a session this weekend, and if I don't find any problems, I'll release it early next week.

Are you talking about the Drag and Drop/Re-size feature? I did a tutorial for b.70 but most I game with are still using b.63 thanks for the heads up. I am all about more bells and whistles. Oh, sorry a little brain dead still. Yeah our GM was complaining about that saturday. :?
