BASH Fantasy: Legends of Steel Kickstarter is Live

Post by BASHMAN »

You can get to it from the link below. It is pretty no-frills. No fancy video or lots of stretch goals. We just want to get this product out to as many BASH! and Sword & Sorcery gamers as possible.

I'm new to kickstarter. How do I back add-ons? There are some that I really want! Do I just have to wait for the deadline to back add-ons?

Just total up the value of all the add-ons and add that amount on to your pledge.

For instance if you pledge the BASH! FANTASY LEGENDS OF STEEL P.O.D + PRINT level ($14) and want the BASH! Sci-Fi Edition add-on, then you would pledge $21 (plus any applicable shipping fees, if prompted).

Though we don't plan to go overboard with them, we do have a few stretch goals ready. Here is some more info about that:

The Character Build Templates will include printable cards, so that you can "deal" a character. Each Template will also include a Key Stat, and suggested Advantage and Disadvantage to help quickly generate characters even faster. So the Narrator can make an NPC simply by drawing 2 cards from this deck. Likewise, a group of players can randomly create a party of Heroes whose abilities will not step on each others' toes, ensuring each Hero their own particular niche.

The Fantasy Races Add-On will include 4 elemental races: Wavekin, Windkin, Flamekin, and Stonekin. We'll also throw in Kobolds and Snakemen. So you'd get six additional fantasy races for your adventures.

Future Stretch Goals: We do not plan on inundating this project with tons of stretch goals. We want to keep it simple and manageable. What we're looking at for upcoming stretch goals include Magic Items (and how to craft them), and also a Narrator's Screen.

We've bust through the first stretch goal on BASH! Fantasy Legends of Steel. The next one will create a new Magic Items Folio, and also add more Fantasy Races and Spells to the other Add-Ons.

Both of these are excellent add-ons. I really like the character card idea as a fun way to put together quick opponents, or PCs. Let's get through this latest one so we can get the Narrator's Screen!

This is awesome! How do you have the print-on-demand Narrator's Screen set up? Can RPGNow do printed, GM screens? Are they pre-folded? Again, this is awesome!

No, Ben. They are inserts that you put inside of a screen. It is sort of like a menu-holder from a restaurant, but made for GM screens. RPGnow does have those for sale, too, but they can be found in various places online.

They make the screen very customizable and re-usable for a variety of game systems.

Our files were approved by the printer, and our proof copy is ordered. With expedited shipping, it should be arriving before the close of the Kickstarter, so we can see the completed printed book. We WILL need to re-do the file to insert the Kickstarter Credits before it goes on sale, though. This should give backers time to sort out their Rewards Surveys and get them back to us.

Hi Chris

Great job on the KS so far. One question I do have - if, for some unimaginable reason, the KS doesn't quite reach the $2400 point for the GM screen, is there any chance the screen could be included as an add-on in the backerkit?

I'm obviously hoping that the KS does reach $2400 (and more) but I would really like the GM screen as well :D

The_Git, I have to prioritize making available the rewards and Add-Ons that were backed. It does not mean that I'll never make the Narrator's Screen; but I will not have it be a top priority.

In essence, what I am going to do with this Add-On is take the bare-bones Narrator's Screen that I've been using for my own games, and make it look nicer. Give it nicer fonts, backgrounds, and a picture for the front. But after that, I'll also need to format it for Drivethru's printing templates.
