Just got back from seeing this. Much, much better than the first film. Chris Hemsworth seems more comfortable in the role, and Tom Hiddleston steals the movie as Loki. Also nice to see Zachary Levi (aka Chuck) as Fandral of the Warrior's Three. Chris Evans has an amusing cameo, and during the first of 2 end credits extra scenes, we see Benecio del Toro as The Collector, setting up Guardians of the Galaxy.

My only regret is not seeing it in 3D.

My son [Tom, 15] and I really enjoyed it. The visuals of Asgard and Asgardian tech, Vanaheim, Svartelfheim, really made it come alive for me. The acting was better overall, and the BIGness of the fights was cool! And Rene Russo got to shine, which was nice too.

The movie has me jonesing to kitBASH the setting for a campaign.

Yeah, they are really doing well with this movie. It bodes well for Phase 2 with this, IM 3 and Cap next year.

With the new Netflix deal, Marvel really is making up for all the lost time of not having strong competition for DC with tv/film projects

I too loved the Thor sequel. It was great to revisit these awesome characters from the first film. I have to admit that everything gelled better in this movie than the first. Thor 1 felt a little uninspiring in the New Mexico town battle scene (sort of like some kind of cosplay reinnactment).

I loved seeing the trailer for Captain America: Winter Soldier just before the movie started (I hadn't seen it before). This movie also looks awesome, and I'm really happy to see that the Black Widow will be having a definate part in it.

I'm hoping that the movie version of Gaurdians of the Galaxy will be better than the graphic novel I picked up. It had potential but, except for the first story, was a big disappointment.

Anybody hear what the next Disney/Marvel movie will be after Captain America (not counting the Spiderman and X-men franchises owned by other film studios)?

Guardians of the Galaxy is next, followed by Avengers: Age of Ultron. Those 2 complete the 5 Phase 2 films that started with IM3.

Guardians is due next year, with Age of Ultron in 2015. The Phase 3 films currently look like this:

Ant-Man (2015)
Dr Strange (2016)
Thor 3 (2016)
Black Panther (2017)
Inhumans / Guardians Of The Galaxy 2 (2017)
Avengers 3 (2018)

So we basically get 2 Marvel movies a year. Ant-Man is going to be set up against Batman/Superman. Not because they think it can out-do it, but to take away whatever it can.

I actually liked the first one better, but this one was good too.

Don't forget Disney has Star Wars now too, threatening to make WB/DC into a big budget action movie footnote. ;)

I'm really looking forward to Avengers 2. Ultron was one of my favourite Marvel villains (along with Doc. Doom).
