Upcoming Product: TGI's The Freedom Ring!
Howdy folks!
I'm excited to announce that I just published my first role-playing supplement - The Freedom Ring!
It's available now at rpgnow.com (and related sites), and is the the first in a series of books that flesh our Superverse campaign setting.
Although it's a character book for Simon Washbourne's SUPERS!, I'm working on a conversion for BASH UE. I'm hoping to have that done and available in the next couple of weeks.
Just to whet your appetite, here is a copy of the cover done by none other than Rus Boyd (A.K.A. Dustland), who did all of the art for the book.

Thanks Dok, that was the intention!
Each of the characters has different art inside too, so don't think the cover is a cut and paste of interior illustrations.
DF is a heck of a writer too. I'd have to say that of all the 3rd party stuff I've worked on, these are some of my favorite characters to work on.

Aw shucks! That's nice of you to say, Dustland! As you know, your great art inspired me to write. It's been a great collaboration for me as well.Dustland wrote:Thanks Dok, that was the intention!

Dok, the cover is designed to be an homage to Avengers #4, so I'm glad that came across.
The BASH edition will be out VERY soon. At this point, I'm just contemplating how to format the character sheets. Some of the character sheets used in BASH products nowadays are snazzier than the ones I developed for my Marvel write-ups back-in-the-day, so I'm debating whether I try and develop something new, or just tweak what already works.
My goal is to have it out before mid-August.

Thanks for the kind words! I'm working feverishly on it this evening. I decided to do a new layout, more suited to BASH UE. The Supers! layout is meant to evoke the style of that particular rulebook, so the BASH version gets the same level of attention.fairytalejedi wrote:Put me down as another customer for the BASH version, and good luck with the SUPERS version too. Your Marvel builds are great and helped sell me on BASH, which is now my go-to game, so I look forward to the BASH Freedom Ring!
I'll keep you posted!

Freedom Star, Itsy-Bitsy, Maiden America, Min-Max, and Thunderbird sound great! I can't wait to see this out for BASH in August. Dustland (a.k.a. Russell Boyd) has done some fantastic art for it (and treating us to samples of some of it here at the forum).
Even if these heroes aren't used by players (though that would be awesome for a quick pick-up game), the Freedom Ring - great name btw - would make an excellent add-on team for you game's universe. They could be heroes from another city or maybe friendly competition for your hero team! Or, as Samuraidad pointed out, they could turned into a team of nasty evil-doers!
Great stuff. I'm looking forward to it!

Thanks, Mr. Jupiter!
Your encouragement just feuls my pace! I HOPE to have this done sooner than August, but certainly no later.
The Freedom Ring are definitely heroes, but they've been designed to serve as antagonists (although well-intentioned ones) for the player-character heroes. How much they run against PC heroes depends on A) How far Narrators take their anti-establishment tendencies, and B) The politics, motivations, and orientation of the player-character group. At least one of their number can become a threat to the world.
Also, the book includes a preview of Skana - a "big bad" for the Superverse. Dustland is working on art for the sequel, which is titled The Iron Gauntlet, and is a book of The Freedom Ring's arch-enemies. There are two other villain books slated to come out after that. One is The Kingdom, which spins off from The Iron Gauntlet, and the fourth is UNICORN vs. CHIMERA. I just needed to do the heroes first, as inspiration for the villains.

I like to use other hero groups in a campaign. Our own group is more of a Fantastic Four style group, so traditional "crime fighting" teams provide a contrast in style and occasionally tension or personality conflicts. So it would it be fun to have the Freedom Ring show up in the Future Force's home turf and see how they get along.
