Marvel has the Hulk jump 3 miles. (Well it was 3 miles back in the 80's...could be 2000 miles now).
Anyway, I've never understood why the Thing couldn't jump at least a mile.
I read the other day in the Marvel Handbook that Hercules could jump "at least 100 feet". Again...not sure why it's not at least a mile.
My only explanation was that Marvel didn't want a bunch of "jumper" characters, and wanted to leave some uniqueness to the Hulk.
Just curious if anyone else had a theory on why characters who are nearly as strong (or stronger) than the Hulk are so limited in their jumping ability?

Because they didn't buy Super Jump, duh.
Seriously, maybe it's the different type of strength. An olympic caliber long jumper and a pro bowl caliber offensive tackle are both strong, but in different ways.
The Hulk is strong in all the ways imaginable, hence being able to jump incredibly far and lift heavy things and punch through solid objects.

You really are fixated on this idea
Okay.....maybe it's a matter of acceleration, not strength. If the Hulk is able to accelerate his mass faster than the other two, then he will be able to generate more force for certain actions.
Sure Hulk and Thor can leg press the same amount of weight, but Hulk can accelerate through the press much faster than Thor can, allowing him to jump much further than the god despite being equally strong by some measures (lifting weights).

F=MA (Force = Mass x Acceleration) if I remember right.
Of course by my "logic" every weight lifter should be able to slam a basketball and that's obviously wrong.
PS- not fixated...just would like a real answer Some people wonder why Kryptonians look and talk just like us Caucasian Americans. Others wonder why Batman's utility belt doesn't weigh 87 pounds. with all the gadgets in it. I wonder about super-jumping. Again, I'm almost sure it was because they didn't want more than one "super-jumper" rather than any "logical" reason. I doubt if even any of the younger creators I'd meet at a comic-con would have any idea (or care). Maybe I'll call my engineer friends. They've answered dumber questions for me.
