That creature seems like a tough customer if blasters won't work on it! Who'd want to charge the thing?

There are few alternatives to the locals. Until recently, the Qizil has hunted nearly unchecked by the Samarkhanis. Some theorize that it was left in place, or even genetically enhanced as a way to 'encourage' the development of Psyche.

With the appearance of tensor weapons and blasters, things have evened out some. But it is often the psyche that tip the balance. Telekinesis or mind control are both good for frightening one off.

Another teaser for some of the places in the Knights-marshal 'verse - the Great Moons of Pallissey', and one of the top predators [and prey] therein - the Rotfang, a tough customer whose toughness puts him high on the list of preferred trophies on the planet Blue Pariah:

This is a copy of my recent post about BASH becoming the Official System for Knights-Marshal of the Commonwealth. If you read it at d-Infinity.net, you won't find anything new below. But Stay Tuned for more as we go forward.

Up periscope - Begin Data Transmission: ------------

Often in the early part of the week I post something KMotC-related that I have been working on, a datafile, a world description or some rulesy-thingy . This week, I have not been doing that sort of work, but I have got something to talk about.

If you missed the announcement, you may be interested to know that Chris Rutkowsky, writer and designer of the RPGs BASH-Ultimate Edition , BASH-Sci Fi , BASH Fantasy , and Honor & Intrigue , and Owner of Basic Action Games , has just endorsed Skirmisher Publishing making BASH-SF the official system for Knights-Marshal of the Commonwealth!

I am excited as *!

I love the BASH system for its smooth integration of simplicity and crunch, its evocative yet flexible rule set, and its ease of use. I can create fully-realized characters in minutes, Run fast, exciting combats, our cool role-playing encounters, each with lots of opportunity for the players to make their characters shine. I have introduced a number of people to the game over the years, and it has become something of a staple for our home gaming group.

OK, commercial endorsement over. What I actually want to boast about, glory in, and generally writhe around on the floor surrounded by happy thought-gerbils with, is that Skirmisher publishing, d-Infinity and I get to work with the BASH-SF 'Ultimate-Edition-in-the-Making' - to write the best possible Knights-Marshal of the Commonwealth setting and support books that we can. Chris Rutkowsky has just forwarded to me the working docs for the Ultimate Sci Fi edition, not yet in print, so that Skirmisher is working with state of the art BASH.

So my next task is to digest all of the awesome, so that Skirmisher can make that happen! Then lots more writing, and teasers in the early parts of weeks yet to unfold, as touched upon above.

End Transmission

Down Periscope.

That's fantastic! Not only for seeing the Knights Marshal as a complete product, but also that there is an Ultimate Edition of BASH:SCI-FI in the works!

Some more development on Knights-Marshal of the Commonwealth using the BASH Sci fi Ultimate Edition rules:

The most recent: not BASH rules-y, but some info on the setting and a glossary of spaceship terms, etc.

Some ideas on making Energy and Fatigue a more dynamic system:

And a working [re: incomplete] glossary of Knights-Marshal of the Commonwealth!

latest 'State of the Commonwealth' is the first part on background information, beliefs, and some history for one of the signatory races of the Commonwealth - the silica-based Shard. No real BASH rules-y things, but good setting resource stuff.

New 'State of the Commonwealth' at d-Infinity.net, goes into Psionics in Knights-Marshal of the Commonwealth, how different species access the powers of the Mind, and a few representative Advantages to illustrate the differences.

New in State of the COmmonwealth! The Mandragoran Hunter-Killer Datafile! I also thought I would include some of the background text for the datafile, perhaps to peak some folks interest.

The Mandragoran Race and the Hunter-Killer:

Suspicion of the presence of the Mandragoran is enough to mobilize defence forces, cause sleepless nights, and provide ample fuel for tavern tales and horror stories alike. Once they might have been human, or at least humanoid, but they have moved beyond the confines of the flesh. The Mandragoran are masters of transference, able to move their consciousness from one host to another one prepared for the purpose. Some are organic, others synthetic, but all are malevolent, at least in the bulk of their dealings with the Commonwealth.

Mandragoran Hunter Killers have been encountered, thankfully infrequently, in distant corners of Edgespace, often planted on derelict ships, isolated moons or asteroids, even, rarely, appearing to terrorize remote colonies, mining operations or the like.

The why of their deployment, if indeed the Mandragoran actually do deploy them, is not understood. Some theorize that the Mandragoran employ them as a sort of security for locales or items they find significant in some unguessed way. Others suggest that the HKs are dropped simply to sow fear and discord. What is known is that the lethal synths are bound by a strange code known as Hunt Law.

The known Tenets of Hunt Law are . . .

Yup! He is meant to be. In the Knights-Marshal setting, the Mandragoran are sort of 'boogeymen'. Parental units all over the Commonwealth frighten their children into obedience with tales of the Mandragoran coming to take them away.

I am currently outlining a scenario for inclusion in the finished book, involving this bad boy placing a Mark on, and hunting, one of the PCs.
