That sounds cool. Do they also hunt down the escaped prisoners to other planets and stuff? That would make the name even more meaningful.

The Prison Pair, as the planets Scathac and Macha are called by the Knights-Marshal, are isolated, secret and heavily defended. There have been no 'escapes' because the inmates have no way to get off Scathac. But there have bee a few notable rescues by people from off-world.

That's where the Knights-Marshal come in, hunting down the escapees. This is one of the few exceptions in Marshall Law that allows KMs to pursue criminals into Commonspace. And it puts the opportunity to hunt down escaped criminals squarely among the duties of the player character Knights-Marshal.

Because of the primitive living conditions and the free-range prison style that is in use on Scathac, the Hounds are constantly patroling the wilds of the planet against abuses of power by the indigenous population, hunting down offenders when they flee. They allow a single infraction by any individual, with a warning of execution if a second occurs.

The Hounds are perhaps the most dreaded of sights on Scathac, unless you are being persecuted by other inmates. In such a case, they may be you only hope.

I meant to post this as part of this thread, but apparently messed up and put it as its own topic elsewhere in the forums. So I just thought I would repost it to the Knights-Marshal thread. This is all about adversaries for the Knights-Marshal.

First up - The Marauders, outlaws, pirates, mercenaries and raiders of the worst sort, that prowl beyond the Edge of Commonspace:

This Datafile provides a squad of ten Marauders, one of whom is tough enough to establish his dominion over the rest as a sort of sergeant or pack leader.


Next - Rhoark, Zhar of Marauders. What would a band of lawless brigands be without a Warlord. Rhoark is ruthless enough, cunning enough, and tough enough to rise to the rank of Zhar, commanding a small fleet of Marauder ships. Of course, he is unlikely to be happy there, so expect to see more of him as he claws his way to bigger and better things.

Finally, there is Satha, a Whight Mercenary captain. Wights are a particular 'drift' of human psycher that can only survive through the consumption of raw meat or blood. In addition, they have a psychic ability that allows them to influence or control those individuals whose blood they have recently consumed. Satha could easily find her way into a Marauder band, or at least be working with them temporarily. She has her own crew though, which have a statblock on the second page of her Datafile. Give her a small or medium class ship and she could provide a prolonged distraction for a Lance of Knights-Marshal.
