Planning a one shot set in the DCAU (sort of)

So I'm trying to come up with a one shot to run for the next NerdNYC Recess event. The next one hasn't been announced yet, but the last time I didn't have anything planned.

Anyway, since I've been watching Justice League/JLU, I was thinking of running something set in an alternate version of that setting. I had an idea a few years ago to run a variation of the team The Outsiders, with the team being comprised of heroes who are "outside" the Justice League (ie have turned down offers to join the expanded league in the setting).

A major point here is that after the events in JLU where Grodd tried to turn everyone into Gorillas, the Secret Society fractured. Luthor leads what is left, trying to find the parts of Brainiac. The rest split up, with some starting smaller teams, but many just going back to being solo. This will allow me to use villains that may have died on the show, especially some that didn't really get much screen time.

I have 3 ideas percolating in my head, and thought I'd get some feedback before fleshing one out. Figured I'd see what other people think.

1) Huntress (or The Question, depending on how I work it out) disappears on a mission (not League sanctioned), and the other tries to find them. As the League is busy with other matters, the hero(ine) gathers a team of non-league heroes to help them find their s/o. This leads to them uncovering some kind of plot. This was the original idea I had years ago.

2) The League is dealing with some major event while some villains make a play to take over Kaznia (which has appeared all the way back to the Batman series). To stop these villains, Amanda Waller recruits a group of non-league heroes to stop them (or alternately, this could feature Task Force X, so you would have villains vs villains).

If I go with heroes, at least one will be Batwoman (Sonia Alcana) from the Mystery of the Batwoman film, back in that identity with support from Waller. Phantasm (from Mask of the Phantasm) would be Waller's inside agent in the bad guy group (she is shown in the future working for Waller in "Epilogue"), but they've lost contact with her.

Other heroes for this one would include Blue Beetle (Ted Kord), Black Lightning, Hawkman, Nightshade, and either the female Judomaster or Vigilante (the second one, not the cowboy from the league).

The bad guys would feature 2 groups. The first would feature the return of Red Claw from BTAS, working alongside KGBeast, NKVDemon and Bloodsport. The second group would be led by Vertigo (again from BTAS), Sonar, Merlyn and Javelin (all having left the Society), with Phantasm (who is on the good guys side)

3) Captain Comet returns to Earth to warn of a potential attack by the Gordanians (enemies of Thanagar). They are being led to Earth by Kraager, who wants revenge on Hawkgirl for betraying her people. The Gordanians are led by Blackfire, and also assisted by the Kryptonian Mala, who they had rescued (after being sucked into a Black Hole in STAS).

The JL are mostly off world dealing with another major threat, so Comet gathers a group of other heroes to combat the Gordanians: Captain Marvel, Firestorm, Halo, Superwoman (Galatea in disguise, trying to reform after the events in JLU), a few others.

It won't be a full blown invasion; a few ships, with their super powered muscle. This is the one I'm least into at the moment, but included it because it is one idea I came up with.

So, any thoughts on which ones sounds most interesting?

I actually like #3, although #1 would be my top choice. Option #2 seems like it might be hard to get into unless you have an encyclopedic knowledge of the DCAU. But I really like the idea of Question putting a team together to find a missing Huntress. That's what I'd go with.

The first idea is my oldest, but the least well defined. Someone on another forum suggested having the plot of #2 be the reason Huntress is missing.

I'm now toying with the idea of running 2 different one shots. One would feature Question & The Outsiders, and the other would be a take on the the DCAU Justice Society. I wanted to use Captain Marvel in one of the scenarios, but after watching "Clash" again, that version of Cap wouldn't work well with some of the characters I wanted to use for an Outsiders type of group.
