Anyone still playing 1st Ed?

Post by enelsonmo »

I bought the PDF copy of 1st ed BASH a few years ago. Ran a couple of games. Put it up. Bought the new BASH UE but didn't do anything with it. I'm looking at the original 1st ed BASH again. I love a game that is 25 pages and gives the DM full control.

I also have Fantasy BASH but haven't done anything with it yet.

So, anyone still playing BASH 1st ed? I'm just toying with different ideas that would utilize it. I think the first change I'll make is to increase the attribute levels to 10 (so I have heroic and a super heroic scale -- Fantasy BASH). I like the added granularity. Wouldn't worry too much about the difficulty factors. I like successes over failures. The opposed rolls would still scale the same so that's not a big deal.

I don't have Sci-Fi BASH; again this 25 page booklet is just too cool. So what about a Star Wars hack? The Jedi powers would be easy to create and with the attribute levels 1 to 10 normals could still be at a 2 on average (see above about not caring about difficulty levels).

Just wondering if anyone else is using 1st ed BASH. Gotta love a 25 page rule book.

I don't use it anymore myself; but there are people still using it, I believe some may even prefer it, which is why it has never been removed from availability.

BASH! Sci-Fi can indeed do what you say; but it is more than 25 pages. It has dozens of ships, alien races, etc. and rules for making your own.

I have the Sci-Fi and love it though, other than creating a few conversion notes for TSR's Star Frontiers game down in the BASH Sci-Fi section of the forum, I've been having way too much fun with Ultimate Edition.

I got to admit it though, until I got Ultimate Edition I really loved the simplicity of the original BASH.
