It would be a great roleplay opportunity!
And it wouldn't slow down the game very much. Roleplay between players is quite fast.
Boost new character would feel a bit fake if he 'just' appeared.
Just my humble opinion.

If this a democracy, I would vote for role-playing Boost's new character as opposed to hand-waving. It would allow me to better understand the dynamic between Fenris and the new PC.

I agree with Volsung that outside combat, we would role-play the interaction very rapidly.

I have a bachelorate in both Biology and Geology and the equivalent of a masters degree in Educational Sciences. I've also got formation in other areas.

Science educational ones: Exam preparation, exercises, pedagogic differentiation for different skill levels etc.

I'm a software engineer for HP working as a government contractor. I work in a sensitive area so my contact with the outside world is minimal during the day.

Fortunately, our office has a single unclassified workstation that I can sneak into at odd times and check the web. But don't tell anyone...
