Keep it simple; if it calls for a Mind Def, then use Mind Shield. It can get too complicated trying to second guess rules based off how someone narrates an action.

Also Volsung, I've been playing around with MapTools more; it is growing on me but one thing drives me nuts. It won't let me save my map/campaign, it just gives me an error (can't save campaign).

I'll keep working on it though. I like the gaming possibilities!

[Paininthe@ss mode on]Oh no! I can't overlook that !
If I don't, Wrestling moves will become a super-hero standard!
I can't believe Ten Chin Tony is the kind of behemot that you can lift like a feather.

So Dustland remember that you can use Brawn to resist a wrestling move
Roll Brawn or Agility against the opponent’s Brawn or Agility (each person picks) to initiate the grab.
[Paininthe@ss mode off]

Phew... ok....Even with *5 Ten Chin tony would have failed^^

By the way I realise my Mind Shield:'Indomitable Spirit' is more effective that I though. My defense against mental attack is 6x that's ridiculously high . isn't it?

Thanks Volsung, I forgot it was Brawn or Agility (don't have my pdf on this computer). Wouldn't have mattered, his Brawn isn't much higher.

This fight has definetly been more WWE than biff bam pow! The minions and the nova lend themselves to this style of fighting though. It will be interesting when the players have to face off against a ranged opponent.

As to the Mind Shield power, I think it's way over powered. For 2pts, even the dumbest character is pretty safe against Mind attacks. Oh well, I'll remember that for the next campaign.

Fenris Restrains Ten Chin Tony to prevent him from doing anything.

I've felt this way too. I actually posed a question about this and another thing recently, it's pretty crazy.

Nestor wrote:Okay, so reading the rules, Javier is essentially a drooling idiot unable to do anything at all unless I can roll four sixes in a row or somebody walks by and smacks him on the head. Great.

Y'know what? Fine. I'm not going to use up a Hero Die just to fix that, considering that, from the looks of it, I'll most likely need it later to keep Javier from becoming a stain on the wall.

Chris, if you're keeping an eye on the game, I gotta tell you seriously, you need to reword the ability scales for the stats in the book. Stating that a Mind of 1 is equivalent to a normal person is not accurate, unless you're making the comment that the general populace is composed of morons. :P
As I said before that's also a fact that bothers me (With a 'normal' mind you absolutely need to buy the 'skilled' power several times to be able to success on casual actions )

Dustland, I guess you can allow Nestor to re-build Javier more efficiently . He's always the one who bleeds first compares to us, the bad munchkins ;)

I'm open to reworks on characters if anyone is unhappy with what they have made, just pm me; I want everyone to have fun and I think we have a good group of players that I want to keep around!

I won't try to defend the "fairness" of the rules, other than to say they are skewed towards the higher end of the scale. I'm not interested in house ruling anything at this point, so the rules are what they are.

I will point out that Javi is really not far off, stat wise, from being a "normal human". That being the case, he is more likely to get hurt, and less likely to shrug off effects. I'm planning on using maps a bit more here on out, so Javi should be able to use his ranged powers more strategically.

Oh and Nestor has had some craptastic rolls as well which hasn't helped!

I love my character. My only concern is the similarity between Fenris and Overdrive. Then, when you take Boost into the mix, we can have 3 characters that are very similar. It's fine when the high brawn & agility characters are what is needed, but I find we lack a bit of diversity... like a Mentalist or a Weak Point Attacker.

If anyone else sees this too, I would be willing to change into something else.

Fyi Boost is changing his character out after this encounter. I don't care about the "roles" each person plays, I'm more concerned if you feel your character is still fun to play.

And I really don't want Fenris to go anywhere since he has a nice tie in to the campaign world via Sarah and a compelling back story.

Just an admission of a flub on my part during the mobster fight: when wrestling minions, you don't have to succeed by 10+ to execute a move the same panel (under the Let's Get Ready To Rumble rule, p22). I think it only affected Fenris's last grab attempt.

Also Ten Chin does have MA: Wrestling, so his roll to resist Fenris should have been higher, but I'll let it go.

At this point, it's obvious that I need to rethink Javier to fit the campaign concept, which is a bit different from what I originally envisioned. (Lately, it seems almost every superhero game I'm in is an "emerging hero" campaign, so the concept's been pretty much run to ground for me).

Bear with me while I continue to get the hang of this system...

I'm good with Overdrive. (Remember that I wanted teleport instead of super jump to make him even more frantic^^)
My only concern is the similarity between Fenris and Overdrive
Well, two different psyche, aspect, life...but on the paper we're two scrappers...One better with attack the other with defense but still close. Scrappers are fun!

Really? Just an edit? Or he completely change his concept?

You lier! Fenris was always your favorite! :)
Jason would be modified, or he'll simply quit and we'll meet a new character later?
