After playing with Bash! UE I've been thinking that the game rules are very adaptable to any "high power" setting.

This edition rules might be applied to sci-fi without much of a problem, so an old idea came to surface.

Since I was a Kid, when I first read Battletech books, saw some Japanese animation series, and came in touch with transformers Tv series and comics, Mech (or Mecha) is something I enjoy.

Based on that universe I came with this Background:

After the Economic Crisis of the early 2000s, the slow extinction of Fossil fuels, and the lack of a good energy alternative, made the tensions around the world to, first boil, then flair.

Among the world a cold tension between fuel holders, fuel seekers and neighbors developed, and slowly the world became tripartite between the NATO countries (North America and Some European Countries), the Islamic Congregation and the Asiatic commonwealth.

It became very close to the start of a third world war, but something happened in 2050: A large meteorite, as it entered the atmosphere split into several pieces that crashed all over the globe (Similar to what happened with Schumacher-Levi 9 in Jupiter).

Millions of people died, and the tension dissipated somewhat, integrating this happening as a sign.

In these asteroids there were several new unknown substances. One of them, (commonly denominated Alpha particle), could be used in the creation of a new, non polluting energy source – Alpha energy.

The shredded world was rebuilt with this energy, and the three world potencies grew, even stronger than before, now not only as countries, but also as Economic associations, similar to Big companies. Without energy shortage, the old rivalries were revived, and they entered the great race: Space colonization.

Near the turn of the century, several space stations were built, the moon fully colonized, and several attempts were made in Mars and Venus (more or less successful).

About Vectors
Even before the Fall, several attempts were made to create a new weapon – a versatile, one man suit, ideal for city fighting, with firepower capable of rivaling a small assault vehicle. Without an energy source capable of powering this suit for long, the several projects were abandoned.

After the fall, with the Alpha energy, small reactors (similar in size to motorcycle engines) could provide enough energy to power a suit.

The NC, AC and IC started developing Power armor, commonly designated as Vectors.

Ranging from 7 feet to 11 feet (2,13m to 3,35m) – at least in the majority - the Vectors constitute the main forces of all the world armies.

After this Introduction at the setting, that gives you the view of the state of the world, my question are:

Do you think (like I do) that bash rules can be used (cleanly) in this setting?

Is the setting interesting? (would you like to play in it?)

Suggestions/ideas?

You gave us a reasons to explain your setting but what is the setting? Example; people fighting the established government after a military coup in order to regain freedom and democracy throughout the region. OR, A small group of allies band together to overthrow the evil Galactic Empire in order to bring peace and justice back to the galaxy. As the friends fight to take back their freedom, one discovers he is not the loner he thought he was and another discovers his destiny - that being the last of his kind also means being first.

The first one gives me the reason for the story. The second gives me the story. Give us some story, and let us in on some campaign details you have floating around in the brain case.

Walt

For this each character would design a 10-15pt character, and then a Vector (adding 10-15pts to the earlier build) form - making a 25 pt Vector.

Regarding to the story I would like to use this prolific environment to start small amidst the confusion of the nation play, and slowly evolve into heroes of mankind.

I have thought in three story arcs:

1st Story arc - Metal and Blood
The several PCs are recruited by a mercenary Vector company, funded by unknown patrons, that takes missions for the several organizations, countries, etc.

In the beginning they will start boot camp and use weak Vectors, in simulations and field tactics. Here they will be introduced to the mercs NPCs.
Then, when apt, they will enter missions as rearguard.
Somewhere along a mission, something goes wrong, as they are attacked by a strange large Vector force.
Part of the company is destroyed. They become the "veterans".

2nd Story arc - World in flames
The incident multiplies and develops into world war, as nobody knows who they are, but all believe it's the other potency (none had the power to build such advanced Vector besides other potencies, Right?)
The Merc company is recruited by one of the potencies and fights, but its main objective stands in fighting the strange force - and trying to discover who they are.

3rd and last Story arc - Shadow to light
The company discovers the real threat, and has to convince and gather all the other forces to fight it.
The menace isn't from earth...

Now we talking. Sounds pretty cool to me.

I think BASH UE is one of the best games, if noth THE best game, that elegantly balances simplicity with completeness. It really lets the game mechanics get out of the way of the story.

So yes, I think that you can run your game with it.

And yes, cool game setting.

cheers
