Legacy Heroes Campaign

Post by RED-X »

Greetings fellow BASHers -
The purpose of this thread is twofold A) I want to share a campaign idea I have been toying with and B) to gain any insight you fine folks have to offer in the way of suggestions, comments, and ideas. Let’s get started shall we.

I am currently calling this project my “Legacy Heroes” campaign. The premise is the off spring of heroes and heirs of heroic tradition (former sidekicks, heroes inspired by, etc). As well as the children and heirs of super villains trying to make good the wrongs of their parents and /or mentors.

In order to explain the influx of young supers acting as legacies would require an in sighting incident. So I asked myself “what if the worlds greatest hero decided to become the world’s greatest villain.”

When Tomorrow Knight the world’s greatest hero snaps and turns into a villain, only his former teammates had a chance at stopping his rampage. He brutally eliminated the Crusaders in a televised public forum. This act also resulted in the destruction of the United Nations building and a large area of New York City. As quickly as it had begun Tomorrow Knight rocketed skyward and out into space.

TOMORROW KNIGHT
A super soldier paragon sent back in time to stop the event that caused his bleak future from happening. He rescued an airliner from crashing, saving all aboard. He remained in the present, because in the new future timeline he does not exist.

This background was all a ruse. The superhero known to the people of Earth as Tomorrow Knight is not actually human, but a member of the alien Hyperion race. A race of brutal conquerors bent on bring new worlds under their control, subjugating weaker races. As part of their strategy of infiltration the Hyperions sent their agent to survey and weaken the Earth in preparation for future conquest.

And that is what I have thus far. I realize some of it may sound familiar, as I have borrowed bits and pieces and ideas from some of my favorite comic trade paperbacks. Thank you for taking the time to read this. Any comments, suggestions, ideas or general feedback are as always welcome.

As part of the process and in order to give players some background to work with, I am trying to create The Crusaders but I am drawing a total blank. What iconic character types do you fine folks think would work for a super team?

The Paragon - He's the Hero's hero. You already have one in Tomorrow Knight, but another of the sort would not be necessarily redundant.

The Mastermind - he's the character with brains. Whether a brilliant scientist/inventor or a brooding mentalist, he usually provides the counterpart to the instinctive heroes' desire tojust punch the living daylights out of the bad guys.

The Smart-Aleck - All teams have one. Whether it's a martial artist, a speedster, a wise-cracking web-slinger, or an archer with a Robin-Hood fixation, there's always the one who's in it for the thrills and meets every challenge with a smirk on his face and a quip on his lips.

Those are just off the top of my head. Give me a few hours and my poor overworked brain will likely come up with more.

Thanks Nestor -
This has given me a few ideas for the characters. As well as more NPC ideas.
