Wolverine & the X-Men settings

Greetings fellow Bash-ites -

A fellow GM and I have agreed to trade off Gm chores set in the world of Wolverine and the X-Men. My buddy is setting his game in the presant day with players taking the roles of the show's current roster of X-Men (I'll be playing my favorite Nightcrawler) He is using the M&M 2nd ed system .

While I have choosen to tackle Professor X and the new dark future briefly shown at the end of the Final Crisis trilogy. The Age of Apocalypse, or at least my own inspired take on the AoA. I am using BASH in order to expose my players to this great system.

In my version Apocalypse (En Sabah Nur) stepped up his activities after the failed attempt by Magneto to spark a war between mutants and mankind by launching Sentinels at Genosha. This failer made Magneto the perfect target in Apocalypse's eyes and it was Magneto who became a target.

One of the first steps Apocalypse took was to have Sinister and his Marauders kill Cyclops (Scott Summers) and replace him with a clone loyal to their cause. In a meeting to try and broker peace among mutant-kind the cloned Cyclops killed Magneto and betrayed the X-Men. He was also attacked by Wolverine, who removed an eye from the imposter during the battle. A battle which also cost Wolverine one of his hands.

Among those forces who aid in Apocalypse's rule of North America are his generals the Four Horsemen - Sinister, Holocaust, Omega Red, and Sabretooth. Also among the members of his "army" are the Marauders under the leadership of Cyclops , who act as a sort of honor guard to Apocalypse.

I'll be posting more of my ideas as they come to me, but what I really need is some help and suggestions of how to handle such a settng. So please feel free to hit me up with any ideas or suggestions you might have and help me to create the new dark future of Wolverine and the X-Men.

Well, the question is, what is the status of the X-Men? I get the impression that they are serving as an underground resistance movement? What kind of base of operations do they have? Have they stated any goals?

Great questions all -
What is the status of the X-Men? I am leaning towards the underground resistance movement idea (at least those who have made it through the "War" and Apocalypse's coming to power.

Several of them have returned to their own countries and regions to aid in the effort to keep Apocalypse and his forces at bay. For example Nightcrawler and Scarlet Witch who rule Genosha. A island where the very ideals of mutant and human living in harmony are more then just a dream.

Base of operations would have to be mobil as well as former government facilities and former bases used by both good and villian groups.As for stated goals I'm still working out the details. As always open to ideas and suggestions.

Ok, so we have Genosha as a strongpoint at least. That's a plus.

Maybe this is too far afield, but for a mobile base maybe the SHIELD helicarrier? It doesn't have to be at full strength.

After rereading some of my old Marvel Super Heroes Adventure Game (yes the SAGA system with the cards) I was thinking of going with a moth-balled Hulkbuster base but a crashed SHIELD Helicarrier located in the badlands of the desert locale that the mid-west has become would be a stunning visiual as well.

Add Forge to the mix as an NPC who supplies tech and can be working on repairing the old Shield Hq as well. This could also give the setting a more X-Men 2099 vibe as well (a personal favorite comic of mine)

I am also thinking about having a series of Battle- plateforms having been built just outside of the North American coast that would be patroled by Mark X Sentinels in an effort to keep the forces of Apocalypse contained. Another step taken by the League of Humanity in Europe.
