Bash! Sci-Fi UE?

Post by Jason_Sunday »

With the changes to Bash! UE and Bash! Fantasy UE, will Bash! Sci-Fi get an UE or updated version in the future? Or are the rules pretty complete as they are now?

I've been wondering the exact same thing because I have a lot of interest in this product but will hold off if a UE version is planned.

I'm guessing eventually but no time soon. Either way Bash! Sci-Fi is worth the purchase. I do feel that it would benefit from a UE version.

What rules need changing to use BASH UE in a sci-fi setting? I've used it for a Shadowrun game already.

I don't feel that the rules need to be changed but maybe it could be expanded to include Bash! UE and Bash! Fantasy UE updates and options.

BASH Fantasy is pretty ancient looking compared to BASH UE and could really use the facelift (as well as rules update). I have to admit though, BASH Sci-Fi looks pretty slick - layout and image wise. It would be pretty cool though if powers had a little more flexibility in terms of enhancements and limits (there are some, though). Still, that's a small gripe for me.

If there is ever a sci fi UE edition I'm going to translate my failed novel as a possible setting - I wrote more of histories, backstories, tech and alien worlds than I did of the novel - 104 page plot summery of the book (not including all the above aspects) but only 13 chapters actually written :-(.

It might make a nice generic (space opera) setting - although I would probably remove the religious aspects (and commentary) from it as although that was the focus of the novel it might not work (or be appropriate) for a BASH setting.

That being said, BASH sci fi is nearer UE then original BASH so I might have another look at it soon anyway.

I know this topic is a year+ old, but I was wondering the same thing. I'm loving BASH Sci-Fi but I think it's somewhat lacking in some more clear-cut, easily understood examples. A UE edition could potentially go a long way toward helping clarify things. Are there any plans for such?

As of yet, there are no such plans. What could be possible is a canned setting + adventure that would include some rules updates. Such a product could be a bridge to a UE Edition at a later date.

In the meantime though, for those hoping for a BASH! Sci-Fi UE, I think you will be really happy with BASH! Fantasy UE when it comes down the pipe.

That one will not only have more genres of Fantasy explored, it will include the Tech levels and equipment from BASH! Sci-Fi (mostly) and re-introduce the Science-Fantasy genre. So it won't have the space-ships, etc. but it will have modern and futuristic weapons as well as the standard "fantasy" fare.

One of the new Genres introduced will be "Gestalt" which is also known as the "Kitchen Sink" because it is allows characters from a range of sci-fi and fantasy backgrounds to co-exist in a shared setting.

One of my all-time favourite classic DnD adventures was Expedition to the Barrier Peaks, a sci-fi themed dungeon crawl where the players explored a crashed UFO.

This "Gestalt" genre would be perfect for a Fading Suns style of sci-fi setting. With BASH Fantasy as the rules core, BASH Sci-Fi elements could be pulled over and incorporated to handle all the higher technology needs.
