Building the Megapolis Shared Universe

So I have been pretty clear that I want Megapolis: YEAR 2 to include a section on "The World Outside Megapolis". While this will doubtless detail subterranean dinosaur kingdoms and other dimensions, it will likewise have info on other major cities for super-heroic action around the globe.

Here's what we have so far, and want to build on:

Empire City (Inspired By: New York)

Diesel City (Inspired By: Detroit)

Centropolis, OH (Inspired by... Imagination) Centropolis is a big super-modern city built around an unobtainium mine- which makes it very advanced, wealthy, and industrial.

Now we need a West Coast city, and some foreign cities.

I could imagine a really cool Jazz City (inspired by New Orleans), complete with cajun mafia, a bayou humanoid alligator villain, a supervillain group based around bright, outlandish Mardi Gras style costumes, and of course a major comic book style magic scene focused around voodoo.

Littleton, a small town in the mid-west, mostly notable for being a place for heroes to come from.

I just picked up Megapolis tonight, and I'll keep this in mind as I read through it. See if anything jumps out. :)

BASHMAN, you've got to add some alien races that want to invade Earth. And not just aliens "out there", but extra-dimensional beings that want to use Earth for a spawning ground... :D

In Megapolis year 1 there was the "Invasion from Dimension Zero". This had an alien race try to take over the Earth. They were bio-engineered to certain tasks- there were workers, soldiers, commanders, etc.

For West Coast there's always the reliable Pacific City...your generic Los Angeles clone. Another option might be Westport, taking the place of Portland, OR (and maybe even encompassing Vancouver, WA, which is right across the river).

For a more Seattle-type vibe, maybe Software City? No... howzabout Coffeeton? All the inhabitants have Super Speed 1 thanks to the caffeine just wafting through the air... ;)

For overseas cities... maybe Royal City in place of London? In my own campaigns over the years I've used references to Star City, Russia, which sounds cool enough to be a fictional location, but isn't (it was a cosmonaut training facility). Still, in the Megapolis Universe, it could be a thriving hub of activity, and home to a team of Russian supers.

We need a Canadian city. Or maybe a top secret government organization that produces living weapons that are the best at what they do...

I also thought about Dragon Bay (inspired by Hong Kong), very light on government, heavily controlled by Triads, with a big Eastern mystic bent. Several intense training/inner strength heroes and villains. Maybe mixed in with a couple high tech companies, developing advanced weapon systems including power armor and Giant Robots!

Edit: And a possible link with one of my favorite heroes in Megapolis Year One, Master Hiroshi!

A Canadian City eh?...I got two...

The Canadian sister across the river from Diesel City is "New Renfrew".

On the west coast there is "Queensborough"

Wow how much those sound like they should swap places therealtony... Queensborough sounds like Ontario (what with the Queensborough bridge in Toronto) and New Refrew totally sounds like a place in BC.

My two cents. :)

*blink-blink*

that is a good idea!!!...THANKS!!!!

I based "Queensburough" off of the original name for New Westminster..and "New Renfrew"... was um...inspired by "Sargent Renfrew Of The Mounties" ..a little bit of joke there..but still a good name..

but "Queensburough" does make more sense for the east coast and "New Renfrew" for the west coast...

DONE!!

Yeah, these two sound real good. I may have made some deliveries and pick-ups in Queensborough (or am I thinking of Scarborough; I constantly get these two places mixed up)!

Can't wait to hear more about these two cities!
