Basic Action Super Heroes!

OK, so now, thanks to Chris, it's official. Divine Madness Press will be releasing their first 3rd party supplement for BASH UE.

The book will be a roster book with more than 20 characters in it, all fully detailed and illustrated.

This is NOT an official press release, as we do not have a release date. It will be a little while, though I'd like to see it done in the summer.

We have a question to ask all of you. The answer may be decided for us by financial exigencies, but we thought we'd ask anyway.

Re: art in the book. Every character will be illustrated. That's a foregone conclusion. And there will be a color cover. But for internal art, how do you feel about B&W vs. color?

Obviously, most people prefer color, especially for supers. But: color will make the project take longer to finish and ultimately increase the price to you. B&W art can be done faster, requires no outside commissions on the part of DMP, and the savings can be passed on to you.

Thoughts? We’d like to know what the diehard BASH fans think about this.

I much prefer color myself. I find it more evocative than B&W for super hero images.

I prefer color. The extra time and cost is worth it.

As I posted elsewhere a moment ago, we have decided to do color and we're going to do it in-house to keep the costs down for you guys.

Congrats. Looking forward to sering what you throw out there. Is this roster book going to be based on angels and demons thread you had going?

Woah. The thread awakens after two months. I had actually hoped to post some art early this week, but sadly, my colorist may not have been the best choice, so the book has hit a strong delay.

But to answer your question: yes and no. It is a roster book set in my setting which is more or less what I had posted previously, but as I always tried to convey, in play the angels and demons stuff was more subtle than angels fighting supervillains.

But you can expect a disproportionate number of demonically themed issues in an otherwise traditional-seeming roster book.

I have a friend who is the book's artist. An awesome artist. He's not super fast, but he'll get the job done eventually. He's old school; his art is hand-drawn pencils, hand-done inks, and then he scans his art and cleans it up on a computer. He has no confidence in his computer color skills and more importantly no real desire to learn them (we're old guys over 40 with young kids).

His wife is doing color for us. She's an excellent colorist - but she is a slow meticulous worker with a perfectionist streak AND not a lot of time on her hands. So instead where half the art should have been done by now, about a quarter has been drawn and none of it has been colored.

Before she offered to do it, we priced colorists, but with a little over 20 illos in the book, plus the cover, the price was prohibitive. So she volunteered. Now I feel stuck.

I really don't want to seem like I'm * about them. They are good friends - just not as focused or organized as I am in getting things done.
