BASH! FANS ASSEMBLE!!
========================
Herein, you are requested to post any and all versions of BASH! Character Builds for MARVEL COMICS universe.

Feel free to post REQUESTS from anyone or specific builders to BASH!-UP BUILD your favorite Marvel Comics universe character!!

CONTENTS:
========================
Galactus (by kevperrine)
Lockjaw (by kevperrine)
Stingray (by kevperrine)
Gomi & Bill the Lobster (by kevperrine)
M.O.D.O.K. (by kevperrine, the Essential version)

PS.... QUESTION for folks who know how to use the forums better than I. I create my character builds in Excel, then save to PDF, then make that PDF a jpg to view here. Is there a way to save the PDF somehow/someplace that will allow an image view (to post here) as well as a download of that PDF? The jpgs are small and I'd be happy giving folks the option to download a 300dpi PDF of the sheet to print/use.

----------The Origin Of...----------
Almost nothing has been revealed about Lockjaw's early history. However, it is now known that Lockjaw is not truly a gigantic dog, as he appears to be, but one of the Inhumans themselves, and that he possesses human-level intelligence. Lockjaw can even speak, although with great difficulty. Apparently Lockjaw originally had a humanoid form until, as a child, he was placed within the mutagenic terrigen mists as other Inhumans are. The Inhumans derive their superhuman powers from the effects of the Terrigen mists. It is now known that his exposure to Terrigen gave Lockjaw his canine form, as well as presumably, his teleportational powers. Apparently it has also given him certain canine instincts and behavioral tendencies (such as urges to chase animals).

Ooookay... hehe, since I promised...
Tell me what you think on this first attempt urbwar. I am always open to suggestions and corrections if you see something wonky. I'm still learning to build better.
so now I present...

BUILD COMMENTARY
"If there is a problem under the ocean waves they call NAMOR. If he's too busy to answer - they call ME. ... And noble caring altruistic dunce that I am I always say YES."

Stingray has a pretty sweet costume, but it doesn't help him much as a super-hero. He only popped up briefly in the 80s, and did a handful of run-ins later on in the 90s and in modern times as Leader of "the Point Men", Hawaii's Initiative team. (the first line of defense against crazy Japanese monsters) He is also an Initiative Instructor; and a former member of teams such as the Secret Avengers, the Defeners and the Deep Six. These appearances usually establish that he's NOT a career super-hero... he loves it, he's just not good at it - rather, he is a scientist with a pretty cool suit.
Stingray is an expensive build at 32 Character Points even though he's a low-grade reserve Avenger. His Character Point build cost is comparable to around what I'd build Aquaman (36 pts) or the Vision (33 pts) but not as expensive a build as an A-list power armorer like Iron Man (40 pts)
STINGRAY

Sir Devilfish

Mental Malfunction: Brilliant Aquatic Mind can't help but want to use his inventions to superhero. He's just not great at it…

Superhard artificial cartilage battlesuit designed for aquatic use.
"STINGRAYED" (Immunity 2) Drowning, Electricity;
Oxygen-diffusing system: Artificial Gills extract oxygen from seawater.
"WATER-TIGHT" (Resistance 1) Half Dmg Cold & Pressure (Push).

----------Breakdown----------
Breakdown: 32= Stats: 14, Ads/Disads: -2, Powers: 20, Weakness: 0

----------The Origin Of...----------
Walter Newell designed a unique suit for exploration. He took the name Stingray after basing some of its design on manta rays. He was ordered by Edgar Benton to bring Namor in to investigate the disappearance of water from Earth's oceans. Stingray reluctantly did so, but later allowed Namor to leave. He was also targeted by Iron Man during the Armor Wars until Stark determined his suit did not contain any stolen technology. Stingray joined the Avengers when they assisted him against the Lava Men. He and his wife became the caretakers of Hydro Base and offered the Avengers use of the facilities. Hydro Base was later destroyed. He also assisted the Fantastic Four members damaged face Thing, Invisible Woman and Namor with help from Tiger Shark, Tamara Rahn and Psi-Lord (an alternate reality Franklin Richards).
BIOGRAPHY & ROLE-PLAYING NOTES
Walter Newell first appears in the title Tales to Astonish as an oceanographer working for the United States government. The character encounters the hybrid hero Namor, the Sub-Mariner and his lover, Lady Dorma, whilst supervising the construction of a domed sub-sea city whose purpose is to harvest food for mankind. The city, however, is destroyed by the villain the Plunderer. Newell becomes a perennial character in the title Prince Namor, the Sub-Mariner and aids the hero and Dorma against the villain Tiger Shark and is coerced by the government into investigating the disappearance of water from the Earth's oceans. This is attributed to aliens who are believed to be in league with Namor. Ordered to capture Namor, Newell develops a suit based on the form of the sea creature the manta ray, and as Stingray captures Namor, who was weakened at the time. Newell, however, believes Namor to be innocent and allows him to escape.
Stingray aids Namor and the Inhuman Triton against a group of Atlanteans who destroy an ocean liner and falsely claim to have done so for Namor. The culprit is revealed to be Atlantean warlord Attuma, who is eventually defeated. Stingray assists Namor in a search for his father, Leonard Mackenzie, with Mackenzie being accidentally killed in a battle with villains Llyra and Tiger Shark.
After brief appearances in titles the Hulk and Defenders respectively, Newell becomes a regular guest-star in the title Marvel Two-In-One. The character moves his oceanographic facilities and research to Hydro-Base, an artificial island previously used by the insane ecologist Dr. Hydro (occupied by Dr. Henry Croft and the passengers of an airplane, who were captured by Hydro and changed into merfolk known as the Hydro-Men). As Stingray, Newell aids Fantastic Four member the Thing; Triton and heroine the Scarlet Witch against the villains the Serpent Squad and company Roxxon Oil to prevent them from obtaining the artifact the Serpent Crown. Stingray is present when Mister Fantastic cures Croft and the other passengers, and aids the Thing, and Inhumans Gorgon and Karnak against Maelstrom's Minions, who steal a dose of the healing compound.
Newell marries Diane Arliss, the sister of Todd Arliss (the real name of villain Tiger Shark) and leased part of Hydro-Base to superhero team the Avengers, and becomes an associate member of the team. Stingray’s first association with the Avengers came when the team needed to use part of Hydrobase as an airbase for their Quinjets. Later, the Avengers needed to move their headquarters to Hydrobase at a time when their Park Avenue mansion was destroyed. During this time, Newell became part of the Avengers’ Ground Crew and, as Stingray, he even became an unofficial member of the group by participating in several missions, such as helping the team recover a nuclear sub from the eco-terrorist Peace Corpse. When Hydrobase was destroyed by the Lava Men, Newell was forced to continue his research privately.
During the first Armor Wars storyline, Avenger Iron Man confronts Stingray, mistakenly believing that Newell's suit was based on technology stolen from Stark Enterprises. Stingray aids the Avengers when Hydro-Base is invaded by Heavy Metal, a team of robot villains (the Super-Adaptoid; Machine Man; Awesome Android; TESS-One and the Kree Sentry 459).
During the Acts of Vengeance storyline the Hydro-Base is damaged and sinks, with Stingray aiding the Avenger Quasar in a salvage operation, and then joining a group of reserve Avengers in a battle against the Mad Thinker's Awesome Android. In the title Marvel Comics Presents Stingray encounters now-brother-in-law Tiger Shark and after a battle work together to save Diane Arliss, who is trapped after a cave-in. The character aids the Avengers; Canadian super team Alpha Flight and the People's Protectorate during the Crossing Line storyline and with Namor battles a subterranean army.
After featuring in a Marvel Comics Presents solo story the character appears in the first storyline of the third volume of the title the Avengers and in the title Mutant X. Stingray aids the Avengers in an extended storyline against futuristic villain Kang the Conqueror; appears in the limited series Avengers/Thunderbolts and the final issues of the third volume of the Avengers.
During the Civil War storyline, Stingray is a member of the Secret Avengers - led by Captain America - who oppose opposing the Superhuman Registration Act. After Captain America's arrest and subsequent death, Stingray accepts Tony Stark's (Iron Man's alter ego) offer of a full pardon, and joins The Initiative.
The U.S. government assigned Dr. Walter Newell, famed oceanographer, to supervise construction of an undersea city in the Atlantic Ocean. Unfortunately, it became a target of the Plunderer, and the city was rescued upon the arrival of Namor the Sub-Mariner. This was the first meeting between Newell and Namor, and the two became friends. However, their friendship was soon threatened when Newell was forced by the government to locate Namor, who was believed to be in league with an extraterrestrial threat to Earth. Creating the Stingray costume, Newell succeeded in capturing the Sub-Mariner, although Namor soon escaped and Newell, while initially defeating him a second time, allowed his friend to go.
Stingray continued his friendship with the Sub-Mariner on many occasions. He helped Namor clear the Atlanteans’ name over the sinking of an ocean cruiser and exposed Attuma as the culprit, he spoke on Namor’s behalf in his attempts to gain official amnesty from the UN for past transgressions, and he later helped Namor locate his human father, Leonard McKenzie. However, McKenzie became the pawn of Tiger Shark and Llyra, and although Stingray helped Namor defeat his enemies, McKenzie was killed.
Newell is best known for his work as the chief caretaker of Hydrobase. Shortly after moving to Hydrobase, he married Diane Arliss, the sister of Tiger Shark. His oceanographical research consumed most of his time, although he had been known to don the Stingray costume occasionally.

----------Advantages----------

----------Disadvantages----------
Age, On the Run, Uncontrollable Powers

----------Skills----------
Stealth/Evading Security, Stealth/Hiding, Athletics/Running
Science x2/cybernetics (MIND x3), Streetwise/Gut, Streetwise/Crime

----------Breakdown----------
Breakdown: 13= Stats: 8, Ads/Disads: -1, Powers: 6, Weakness: 0

----------The Origin Of...----------
Gomi is a cyborg telekinetic and a member of the Fallen Angels. Alphonsus Lefszycic gains his powers from his older brother, a researcher in bionics. His brother's initial research results in two cybernetically enhanced lobsters named "Don" and "Bill". Alphonsus' brother and his partner treat him harshly and give him the nickname "Gomi" which comes from a Japanese word meaning 'junk'. When Gomi's new cybernetics produce a powerful, destructive blast, further funding for the project is denied. Gomi steals the lobsters, to save them from being eaten, and runs away. It soon turns out Gomi has a psychic link with the lobsters. Gomi eventually joins the Fallen Angels and their adventures take him out of this dimension entirely. Gomi suffers a tragedy when the team enlists the red tyrannosaurus Devil Dinosaur and his ape-like companion Moon-Boy. Devil Dinosaur accidentally steps on Don, killing him. Despite this, Gomi sticks with the team. Alphonsus is being considered as a "potential recruit" for the Initiative program, according to Civil War: Battle Damage Report.

Okay... returning back to my roots of looking for the bizarre "morts" to make up conversions in BASH! Here we see GOMI & BILL (sadly Don is no longer with us). They were/are members of the FALLEN ANGELS from waaaaaaaaay back in 1987!

Here's the weirdest part. The lobster Bill was so costly that HE ended up being the "master" with Gomi as a sort of "reverse" sidekick. HAHA!
But it's great, because I always saw it that way anyhow! (I always imagined that it was GOMI that was the "1" vote to not join the Fallen Angels out of the 3 buddies... hehe)

----------Skills----------
Stealth/Hiding, Athletics/Swimming
Deception/Manipulation

----------Breakdown----------
Breakdown: 27= Stats: 10, Ads/Disads: 0, Powers: 17, Weakness: 0

----------The Origin Of...----------
Bill is a genetcally engineered bionic lobster and a member of the Fallen Angels. Bill & his brother Don gained his powers from Gomi's brother, a researcher in bionics. Bill & Don agree to eventually join the Fallen Angels and their adventures take him out of this dimension entirely. Bill suffers a tragedy when the team enlists the red tyrannosaurus Devil Dinosaur and his ape-like companion Moon-Boy. Devil Dinosaur accidentally steps on Don, killing him. Despite this, Bill sticks with the team. Bill is assumed to be the "pet" of the boy Gomi.

NARRATOR COMMENTARY:
I have a fond place in my heart for Marvel's many goofy sidekicks and pets. Bill & Don were always a couple of my favorites.
The builds are more of a fun exercise than actual playable characters, but then again there's no reason you couldn't do a fun "FALLEN ANGELS" campaign - even lower powered than a NEW MUTANTS game but with a fun tough characters mixed in.
The Fallen Angels were essentially Marvel's *'s Pickpockets from Oliver Twist. So in that light Gomi and Bill are criminals (hence "on the run").
Gomi was the quicker build but came with some unique fun, if you notice Gomi's version of "Lobster Link" is only a one-way mind reading of Bill & Don and he can't use telepathy with others. Bill's however is universal telepathy - allowing for cross-communication WITH Gomi (even though he may think he's doing it) ... I built it that way because Bill CAN communicate with other humans via telepathy, Gomi is strickly one way with his lobster buds but he can still read their minds linked.

Gomi's powers were interesting. You'll note his blast is fairly tough, it's been compared to that of Iron Man's repulsor - though IM's would be "Variable", while Gomi's is just BOOM! He also has very very minor Telekinesis, so I had fun making it a "0" stat version of TK, meaning he can only roll a 1d6 when picking up things with it.

Bill's powers and such were fun to consider... I was surprised a sentient lobster would have some much little powers. But cross-referencing everything I could find online (not much), and my Handbook of Marvel Universe RPG books, plus my more recent Handbook for the Marvel Pets! it gave me plenty of info on the little green guy.

Hope you folks enjoy this labor of love.

----------Skills----------
Science (x5)/Physics, Technology (x5)/Invent

----------Breakdown----------
Breakdown: 36= Stats: 10, Ads/Disads: 0, Powers: 26, Weakness: 0

----------The Origin Of...----------
Subjected to a mutagenic process that grants him superhuman intelligence, including a computer-like memory and the ability to predict probable outcomes that borders on precognition, but his creativity remains at average human level. Before George Tarleton was made into MODOK, by Advanced Idea Mechanics, he was of average intellect. For AIM, Tarleton worked on experiments to unlock mental potential. Some sources say he volunteered and others say he was forced, but Tarleton became the next experiment. A side effect of the mutation was the growth of Tarleton's head to the point whereby his body can no longer support the weight, necessitating the use of an exoskeleton and hoverchair. The chair is equipped with a variety of weapons including missiles and lasers. As the leader of A.I.M, MODOK has advanced technology and a personal army at his disposal. After the transformation, he was to be known as MODOC: Mental Organism Designed Only for Computing. He quickly overthrew AIM, and became their commander.

BUILD COMMENTARY
MODOK is one of my very favorite Marvel Villains! He skirts that quirky Kirby/Lee line between silly, bizarre and awesome perfectly. Played for comic relief almost as much as a menace, MODOK has so many different ideas and versions on the theme in his related characters:
M.O.D.A.M. (Mental Organism Designed for Aggressive Maneuvers), The M.O.D.O.A.s! (Mental Organisms Designed Only for Avenging), Ms. MODOK (Kate Waynesboro), M.O.D.O.G. (Mental Organism Designed Only for Genocide), M.O.D.O.T. (Mental Organism Designed Only for Talking),
M.O.D.O.R.D. (the Mental Organism Designed Only for Roller Derby), and in the comic Nextwave there are at least four versions of MODOK, apparently based around Elvis Presley, were created by the Beyond Corporation© to defend their secret weapons factory, State 51.
All of which could be based off of this Build-theme (imagine an issue of your creation in-which all your PCs are "MODOK-ized"!!).

WHY IS HE AWESOME?!?!!
I mean... He’s a big head with tiny arms and legs in a flying deathchair. That’s why he’s awesome. I don’t think I have to go into his origin or anything. Originally, he was the Mental Organism Designed Only for Computing (MODOC) but went evil, and started the Killing.
Yes... MODOK is sorta silly at first glance, but I prefer to enjoy him in the menacing B-tier mastermind villain, treating him as a scary threat on a tactical level with many minions (such as his AIM agents or "MODOK's 11").

ESSENTIAL VERSION:
This is what I refer to as an "essential" version of the character. Simple, basic, the core essentials. For heroes it might be the same as a "year one" or "rookie" version of the character. For different Character Builds I will also build a more in-depth or alternative version of the same idea.

Love alot of those characters urbwar! All of the Squadron would be awesome to see done.

I will look to get to a couple of your requests soon. May I ask a question though... any reason you don't try your hand at some of those characters?

I sure would like to see other folks participating and posting all their Marvel Universe characters. And you might find someone quicker than I am to get to those requests. Or is there a reason you're asking me?

That said... no worries. It's FUN! I'll be thinking and planning to do them.

I asked you because you asked for requests in your other thread :P

I also like the sheets you get with the excel builder (which I still need to install and try out myself). You also describe why you went with the powers you did, which I find interesting.

As for why I don't do it myself is simple: I am even slower than you in getting stuff done. Plus I'm still trying to decide on what I want to run for my next one shot (and creating any characters I will need for it), as well as continued work on my eventual 3rd party BASH (and other systems) project(s). Add in whatever I have going on in real life, and I find no inspiration to do stuff myself. Besides, it's cooler to see other people's interpretations of characters than my own

Haha... Okay. All that makes sense.
I'm glad you dig the Excel Builder output, I'm still toying with making the output look closer to my imagination. Simpson's sheet is amazing for the coding and the core of the Character Sheet output is excellent, but I'd like to add my own design spins on it more.
I plan to update the current "Modern" sheet more for myself. And also make a "Basic" (aka. Classic) sheet similar to the ones most folks make on the forums (with the big yellow block at the top, etc...). As options.

I'm also glad you like the "Builder Commentary". I've seen others do that in other forums and I particularly enjoy understanding WHY the build is a certain way from the creator (I wish publishers would do this with their builds in book archetypes, etc...). For me, that allows me (as a fan creator) to understand the intricacies of the rule building ideas to either take that and run when I build my own ideas OR to adjust their build if I disagree with the idea behind it for my own use.

As for what's up next...
I plan to post 1-2 more "essential" characters, maybe some standards like Spidey or Superman. But for your requests - I'm thinking about ROM next, though I dig all of your requests - so who knows.
Keep watching!

thanks!
