kev's BASH!-BUILDS: Ameri'kid & Talon

Post by kevperrine »

For my first posted build... why not go all the way?

Now before folks start crying ... buuu, buuu, buuuut Kevin, Galactus should be a "beyond"... a cosmic force ... a Narrator story tool with no stats... First I'd say, I somewhat agree. But that's not my wish here or my point. I wanted to attend to build such a powerful being to see how it would work and the Character Points it would need.

I would also like to have any critiques and double-checks of my math and rules.
Enjoy...

I present...
THE DEVOURER OF WORLDS

SIDEBAR: we're still working on the Excel Character Builder, so some of the layout is a bit wonky...

Hey, Kev. I like it! I like the character sheet and the build. I particularly like the power write-ups. Know Fear and Swat as Flies, for instance, are just cool and fun. BTW, I think there is a typo on Swat as Flies. The text is small on my screen, but I think it reads Swat as Flees on the character sheet.

Anyway, nice job. Is there any way to get my hands on that sheet, BTW? It's very pretty!

Best,

Ditto the cool format.

I thought Galactus was bigger than size 2. Maybe it was the perspective of the drawing. I thought he could throw a shadow on a planet.

I think you mean "Raise a Herald" as opposed to "Rise a Herald"

cheers

Hey Dragonfly!
Thanks for the compliments!

I love BASH! because (even though I don't think it tells a player to do so in the CORE book) BASH! encourages players to think creatively. And, at least in the forums, it's become clear that coming up with a "KEWL NAME" for each main power is a very very "BASH!" thing to do. So yeah... hence: "Swat like flies!" haha!

BASHMAN (if you read this), you should totally write up a new section to add to future BASH! printings (or you/I could write an ARTICLE for B.A.M.!) explaining the COOL level of making up names for your powers! hehe

You can also visit that link to see a bigger version of that sheet. See below for more notes on the format and character sheet style.

Thanks Saker.
Galactus is one of my favs, so my knowledge of his size is this:
- Galactus at times of most hunger may decrease in size to as little as 10 ft tall!
- At base normal size (not hungry and not filled), Galactus' size is listed at 28 ft tall.
- Galactus' size varies widely due to the Power Cosmic flowing through him... He literally resizes when he's fed, growing to unknown heights from 10' to 100's of feet easily.
- As for looming over a planet, you are likely thinking of his Worldship - Taa II. It was "born" at the Big Bang and is said to take up nearly an entire system. In the build, I chose to make it very big but not overly so... The ship is mostly "plot purpose" anyway.

In reality... Galactus' size is likely the result of (good) retcon from dozens of artist's interpretations over the years.

As for the Herald power. No, what I actually meant was:
"RISE MY HERALD"
To use a Galactus quote for the power name! hehe

Lastly... the format of this sheet.
I will be posting an updated version of the sheet later today. This is the output of the Excel Character Builder I have mentioned (in other forum posts) that I'm working on. My friends Bill and now Dan (a new BASH! forum member) have worked wonders to create a great builder and output sheet. We're calling it:

"The Amazing BASH! BOOK"

Dan has been updating it frequently with my testing comments. I believe that he will be "unveiling" the Excel Character Builder for BASH! forum fans to use and test... to get more feedback. Not sure when/where he'll do that... but I know he's mentioned that's the plan.
Dan is an old pro at these Excel Character Builders. His work on the original M&M Excel character builders is legendary with those familiar with that system.

The output sheet is evolving rapidly.
I'll post an updated Galactus (soon as I copy/paste him into the newest sheet) to view. I believe when all is finalized on
"The Amazing BASH! BOOK" Dan plans to offer 2-3 output character sheets. A few resembling more familiar BASH! sheets, his custom one you see here, and a few other surprise!

Let me know what you think. Feedback helps a ton.

Here is the "text output" from latest version of "The Amazing BASH! BOOK" Excel Character Builder. And a jpg of the PDF saved from the Excel.

This is an original idea that I built, based on one of my player's descriptions for what she wanted to play in my upcoming cosmic level game.

She has no name or anything yet. The player still needs to look over her and give all that. Still, I'd welcome your feedback on the build. Let me know if anything's miscalculated or could be done differently (or better).

The idea is a mix of Jamie Maddox the Multiple Man + Jericho from Teen Titans - COSMIC-SIZED for power level.
I will edit/post a character sheet when the player does the name and we find/make a picture for the character.
Enjoy...

So... not to derail my own thread (asking for thoughts on my BUILDS) but to this point... I wonder WHY that is?? Seriously. I don't believe at any place in the BASH! core book it suggests or invites me (as a player) to make up my own cool names for my powers... But in making characters, the style SCREAMS at me to want to do that. UNLIKE any other supers game before. I literally never thought about it before. And I've seen almost all my local friends and most people here in the forums ALSO create their own names for their powers. I love it!

I wonder why BASH! makes me want to do that?... Anyone have a guess how that trend came about?

Oooh! Look, a thread-derail. Let's nudge it and see where it goes...

Giving powers cool "nicknames" is not new in our group. A lot of our Hero Games character write-ups used identifying quotes when listing their powers. ;)

Cloaking back into lurk-space...

I'm pretty sure it does say to come up with a name for your powers- but I don't have the book open to look it up right now. Back to the Cavalcade!

One thing I have certainly enjoyed about BASH!, although I am unfamiliar with other supers RPGs so maybe they do to, are people's customized names for powers and skills. It really adds flavour to the characters, and I can visualize how those powers and skills would come into use.

And that is more a plus for role playing.

----------The Origin Of...----------
Almost nothing has been revealed about Lockjaw's early history. However, it is now known that Lockjaw is not truly a gigantic dog, as he appears to be, but one of the Inhumans themselves, and that he possesses human-level intelligence. Lockjaw can even speak, although with great difficulty. Apparently Lockjaw originally had a humanoid form until, as a child, he was placed within the mutagenic terrigen mists as other Inhumans are. The Inhumans derive their superhuman powers from the effects of the Terrigen mists. It is now known that his exposure to Terrigen gave Lockjaw his canine form, as well as presumably, his teleportational powers. Apparently it has also given him certain canine instincts and behavioral tendencies (such as urges to chase animals).
