Use PNG not GIF or JPG, smaller files that look a lot better :)

No problem! If you run into any problems with it, let me know & I might be able to help.

And I'm actually gonna go with AslanC & recommend PNG files. They're a bit bigger than the GIFs (about 300kb as opposed to 120kb), but the color saturation is much better. I'd avoid JPEGs, as it's a condensed format, and lends itself to pixellating and source loss.

Good stuff!

They are a bit hard to read though, any chance you could make them about 30% bigger?

Hey Aslan!

That was, precisely, my next question! Would I just resize them in GIMP and then resave them before reposting? I'll give it a shot tonight.

Hey folks!

I can't figure out how to post images like the rest of you do. I tried adjusting the files I posted earlier, and they ended up being even smaller than before. I'd gladly accept any help from folks willing to help me with my less than steller grasp of technology.

In the meantime, here are a few new characters to peruse. These are most of the PCs from my Classic Champions game (see the Actual Play thread).

Nightshift
http://www.scribd.com/full/31090856?acc ... z0h1pgna7d

Rampart
http://www.scribd.com/full/31090857?acc ... b94d9f0cil

Sparrow Hawk
http://www.scribd.com/full/31090858?acc ... ncssxg36ma

Troyus
http://www.scribd.com/full/31090859?acc ... c2pq9dig41

These are conversions from Champions. Sparrow Hawk suffers point-wise because Champions gives so much more of a cost break for gadgets, etc. I'm going to probably give the others extra points to spend. Either that, or make it a 35 point campaign. The others can then enjoy the extra hero points.

Hi Dragonfly,

First, very cool characters - I've been enjoying your actual-play reports, and it is cool to see them. I'm surprised most of them are only 22 pts - that's neat! I've got no good suggestions for the issue with Sparrow Hawk's point total, except maybe some of her gadgets could be things she creates using her conjuration / utility belt. But that isn't totally appropriate for things she has on all the time without needing to spend actions conjuring/equiping them.

Regarding the images, can you describe what software you are using to create / resize them, and what size you are making them?

Thanks Mr. Jupiter! I know that reply was a long time in coming, but I've been busy with real life.

Anyway, I've just done an overhaul of many of these characters, and written up alot more, so I'm about to post a ton of stuff. Give me a day or two. I have many questions about the system and about concept stuff, so I'm hoping people will be willing critics, if they have the time.

Okay, here we go. A few things about these write-ups:

First, I'm posting two links. One is to a version of the character that is written up with the canon BASH! UE rules. The second is a version that employs a house rule (which I refined by discussing with BASHMAN).

The house rule concerns a new Intensive Training power called Heightened. Every level in this power grants a +3 Result Bonus to a Stat of your choosing. The stat must be selected at the moment of purchase. You can buy up to three levels of Heightened, but only once for each Stat. This provides a bit more granularity to the game without altering the basic system, which is why I like it.

The first character I'm posting is Apex. For those of you who have been reading the play-by-post, you know he's pretty important to the game, but I didn't have artwork handy before, which is why I never posted him. Here he is:

Apex (canon)
http://www.scribd.com/doc/33177259/Apex-Canon

Apex (house)
http://www.scribd.com/doc/33177547/Apex-House

Now, here are a few things I need feedback on:

First, I have a question about how Telekinesis works. The description for Telekinesis says that slamming an object into a person (or vice-versa) does damage like a Special Attack, treating Telekinesis as Brawn for damage. I’m mildly confused. Special Attacks add a Stat (Brawn or Mind) to the damage done. Is that the case with Telekinesis? For example, how much damage would a character with Brawn 1, Mind 1, and Telekinesis 3 do when slamming an object into an opponent? Would it be x4 or would it be x3? My assumption is x3, but I just want to make certain.

Second, I’ve created a new power Enhancment for Apex. This is a variation of Area that allows an attack to project as a cone. In Apex’s case, it is applied to his TK Arc. The breakdown for Area (Cone) looks like this:

CONE AREAS
1 pt. Short Cone, 1x3 squares (4 squares total)
2 pt. Medium Cone, 1x7 squares (16 squares total)
3 pt. Long Cone, 1x15 squares, (64 squares total)
4 pts. Extreme Cone, 1x31 squares, (256 squares total)

Apex’s Medium Cone, for instance, looks like this (with X’s representing squares):

XXXXXXX
XXXXX
XXX
X

Finally, I just want some feedback regarding his power set. Do you think that Apex’s TK Arc (special attack) is redundant when he has Telekinesis? It’s meant to be kind of a force blast. I think the fact that it isn’t reduced by range justifies TK Arc’s presence in his attack suite.

Okay, that's character #1. Only 22 left to go! :)

Okay, the X's in my explanation of the Cone effect got shifted a bit. They should form an upside down pyramid.

Is his skin naturally red? He may qualify for the Freak disadvantage, as I initially thought he was an alien.

Hey BASHMAN!

I noticed that right after I posted. He isn't red all the time. He is a mutant, and his redness (and strange eyes) only manifest when he uses his powers. At the very least he should have Instant Change. Do you think that he would also qualify for Freak (given that his weirdness isn't always on)?
