Captain America build

Post by Jukeboxer »

This is based on the Patriotic Shield Soldier archetype that BASHMAN posted on RPGnet. I just added a few things to flesh out his powers, such as ricochet, ranged. I also added paired weapons, melee, since Cap frequently will land a combination of punches, even against non-minions. Finally, I also used the Heightened stat option that has been discussed on this forum. I like how you can fine-tune the basic stats this way.

This is also my first character sheet using Comic Life! Sweet software!

[character sheet image removed, the current version is below]

So what would you guys do different on your version of Cap?

Comic Life dude! I'm just fiddling around with the trial version, but I really like it so far. I saved that sheet as a JPEG and at medium resolution it's only about 260k.

Love that character sheet look mate! Well done :)

Cap isn't Normal though. Well technically he is only the best a human can be, but still that's from the Super Soldier Serum, no?

Hmmmm... I guess I can see it in the end... nevermind ;)

Thanks AslanC! Yeah, I think an argument could be made for 3 brawn/agility for some versions of Cap.

I would have probably made him a 3 brawn. But it's your version man. Btw, is this the normal Cap or Ultimate Cap. B/c I'm wondering if that pic is Ultimate Captain America. Seems like it might be.

Comic Life huh? I'll to check that out....eventually. :)

well Cap did lose some of his ability years ago. IIRC, it was stolen by an old enemy, who put it (and his consciousness) into a giant artificial body that looked like cap in his costume. So I'd say he used to be that good, but after losing some of his power, having maxed out human potential seems about right for him.

Then again, isn't the original Bucky the current Captain America? If so, he didn't really have super powers either

The picture probably an ultimate version, which I'm not really familiar with. I was thinking more iconic with my version.

Currently Bucky is in the uniform and there are some significant differences. He seems to be more of finesse fighter, doesn't use the shield as much, but he has a bionic arm.

I think I will spend another point on Heightened, effectively making both Brawn and Agility 2.5. And I'll find a more iconic pic too.

thanks for the feedback!

I also realized that I need to apply Heightened as a Result bonus, not a dice bonus. Duh. So I have a few things to fix for my final version of Cap!

Alrighty... Here is an improved, refined version of Cap for BASH! I added a point of heightened, so both Brawn and Agility get a +3 result bonus. Also I streamlined the shield multipower and added a mental malfunction piece. And finally I replaced the "ultimates" art. Now I'm thinking about playtesting this guy a bit!

Note: the breakdown should read 20 pts in powers, but the total is correct.

Looks good!

BTW, any chance you can share a blank template of your sheet? I like how it looks, and would like to use it (if you don't mind)

I don't mind, but I'm not sure how to share it in a way that would useful. The character sheet above is a JPEG. The original is a Comic Life document.

what do you suggest?
