I was going over the section with Animals (page 72) and noticed that they all had mind 1. Now I assume thats so they get x3 roll for senses, as they are non sentient. Wouldn't it be cheaper to have them mind 0 and give them the appropriate keen sense?
Big Cat: 13
B2, A3, M0,
Bite or Claw: Special Attack 1 (x3+5 dmg); Attack Weak Point, Keen Smell
Skills: Athlete:Climb, Stealth:Stalking, Stealth:Hiding Outdoor:Track,Outdoor:Survival
Guess their are many ways to skin a cat Now its not much of a saving but this build can be Summoned with a level 3 Summon.
I was working on 'The Tigers' base defenses and thought summoning Tigers to Defend the base would be cool.

True. Read the Advantage non-sentience on pg 11. Your current build only rolls a 1d6 on Sight, hearing and Outdoor/survival checks. Plus your cats can be zapped by suggestion and mind control. There are pros and cons
Non-Sentience: This “advantage” (if you can call it that)
cannot be taken by Heroes, but may be useful for a pet. Most
animals (and some machines) have this advantage. A non-
sentient creature’s Mind is considered a 0 in terms of reasoning
and intelligence, and is considered 2 higher than normal for
senses, cunning, and resistance to certain powers requiring
a Mind contest such as Daze, Illusion, Mind Spikes, etc. For
example, a non-sentient creature with Mind 1 has Mind 0 for
some tasks and Mind 3 for others.
A non-sentient creature is immune to Mind Control, Suggestion,
and similar powers because it cannot understand what it
is being told to do [unless the power was bought with an
enhancement that allows it to affect such creatures].
The number of Mental skill slots a Non-Sentient creature has is
based on its actual Mind, but its multiplier is Mind+2.
It would seem that my Cat would have x2 in most senses, and would be x3 for Smell (or would that be x5?) Also immune to mind control and Suggestion.
The purpose was simplicity of the builds. There is less stuff to need to put in a stat-block thanks to non-sentience.
Essentially "Non-Sentience" gives you "Keen Senses" for free. Now if you wanted to have a creature be ESPECIALLY keen, you can take Keen Senses ON TOP OF what is already listed.
So a Dog with Mind 1 Keen Smell would have x3 for vision and x5 for smell.
@Saker
I assumed all normal animals had Non-sentience (page 72 says something along those lines).
Mother always warned me about assuming
@BASHMAN
I cam see the logic in that I mean we don't list 'no arms' or 'cant speak' as Disadvantages.
I wonder if perhaps a Mind of 0 should imply non-sentience, and maybe have a 0 point advantage "Animal" that gives them mind rolls of x3 for senses and animal skills. (with the associated disadvantages of being a non-speaking tool using creature )
Certainly not meant as a criticism - I'm really enjoying the feel and rules for Bash! - But until its my turn to run a game I'm letting my mind run away with possibilities
