cheers
Just buy the power and then two enhancements (one for broad group melee and another for broad group ranged)? That is pretty simple…

Thanks. My ‘stay-cation’ is over now so my posts will become rather sporadic. I’ll try to keep up with them. In the mean-time, everyone is invited to add his or her-own archetypes so that we can get a big list! Me, I’d love to see a really cool telepath or lunar-themed vigilante…

Hey Mr. Jupiter,

I really, Really, REALLY like your builds! :) I particularly like some of the subtle ways that you modify powers with Limitations and Enhancements.

The Unobtanium Scrapper, for instance: love the Extra Effect: Certain Structures for his Special Attack. I also love the limitation on his Armor power. Brilliant.

The Density Altering Android: LOVE the limitations on the self-repair. I also love the two different modes for Density Increase.

This is a question, not a criticism. What do you use for benchmarks? Agility 3 seems a bit high to me for a character whose basic power set doesn't necessarily call for it. I wouldn't ask the question if the character had Cat powers, as this screams super-human Agility, but a kid whose basic power is becoming insubstantial doesn't necessarily suggest a beyond human Agility to me.

Anyway, I ask this to get a sense of how indivduals in the BASH community go about interpreting Stats - not to suggest that you are somehow "wrong."

Again, thanks for this excellent work!

Best,

Dragonfly

Bashman kindly including a set of benchmarks in the Ability score section of the rulebook, but since I wanted to use the heightened feature, and because I wanted some more concrete numbers, I came up with my own. My group uses them for all of our BASHing now.

I can provide them if there is interest, but I guess it will be via an email, since I don't know how to [or even whether I am allowed to] attach it to a post in the forums. If the B.A.M. folks want to throw it in the next ish, that is fine by me too.

And I second the fondness for Mr. Jupiter's builds!

Permission is granted to post your benchmarks table. If you can take a screenshot of it, you could just post it as a picture.

My understanding is that you can't. I just upload mine to Flickr and take it from there.

No problem, Baelor, and thanks for posting these. Very cool! I'm going to post my own, but I'm going to do so in a new thread over in the Laboratory boards. I'm afraid we may have hijacked this thread a little, and want to make sure to leave this space for some more cool archetypes.

Many thanks for the appreciation. I guess I just like to show the versatility that BASH can have. Most M&Mers don’t realize that this system is nearly as is so capable (just in a slightly more generalist manner). Many of the ideas came when trying to stretch a power to accomplish an effect that not quite suggested by the description. BASH is awesome!

I’m not quite sure why I put the Herculean character’s Agility at a 3. I really didn’t need to. The Weapon Techniques really help to make him a rather capable fighter even at an Agility rating of 2. I just assign it as I feel fits.

I won’t mind giving a character a Brawn of 1 but I don’t like doing so when it comes to Agility (or Mind too in many cases). Scores that low in Mind and Agility really make crimp the character’s ability at skills and, in the case of Agility, can impair their fighting ability without significant help.

Thanks for the tip Dragonfly.
That’s a useful chart Baelor. I like seeing the specific benchmark weights listed. It gives a real sense of the ballpark area that a particular rank is in. “Lift several tons” versus “Lift tens of tons” (Ranks 3 and 4) leaves a lot of ambiguity. Hard numbers really clear things up. I gotta admit that I still like that fudge room that the rulebook offers cause it allows me to feel comfortable putting both Beast and Spiderman in the Brawn 3 category (I love them both but… the webslinger could mop the floors with the big furball – just sayin’).
