I have fun with tons of concept ideas for either full characters or kernels of ideas for a potential character... My thought for this thread is to list some of my ideas core concepts and info, then open it up to YOU to toss out how you would handle stats for powers, advantages, and such.
I'm not looking for full builds on the idea from folks, in fact for many of my concepts I already have character builds... but I'm interested in alternative ideas that perhaps I have not thought of. Or unique spins on the concept. So... toss out your ideas! Here goes........
THE FROZEN MAN
Campaign Level: Cosmic
Mini-Background: born on Earth in the age of the tallships, through mishap "the Frozen Man" fell into icy waters. Recovered by some cosmic being the block of ice with the suspended man inside became the powered cosmic character. Now forever mute and almost knowing of the world about him floating in fetal position, eyes closed to the galaxy.
Key Concepts: The Frozen Man has a limited awareness of the Universe due to his frozen situation. He cannot interact verbally and cannot crack his way out of fetal position to move. He floats in space (or atmosphere) with a vibrating chilling power and communicates through limited telepathy. Adversaries and Allies alike must deal with the continual chill surrounding his form. Ice-spikes conjure from his form, freezing the air inbetween to hit opponents. But his primary power is a crystalizing breaking of opponenets - slowing his opponent, while their blood and bones crystalize and freeze - forcing the opponent to literally break into dozens and dozens of pieces! Not killing them, but leaving them in frozen-broken bits to be swept up. re-combining later as the freezing ends!
MACROCOSM
Campaign Level: Cosmic
Mini-Background: Macrocosm is a 20 meter tall humanoid being, only a silhouette of a form - within showing his true form, that of a living universe condensed in the form/size of a man! Truly a cosmic being beyond imagination, a sentient universe in humanoid form!
Key Concepts: Told to have the touch with one swat of his galactic hand of an exploding suns! He has the ability to draw or "banish" enemies/allies or things into his inner galactic self - miniaturizing them as he draws them in. A challenge to find their way out! He's been known to "collect" (i.e. steal) a dozen planets or an entire sun (or black hole!) into himself - surprisingly as a hero "slammed" Macrocosm to knock the planets back OUT (essentially "disarming" them!) to free the captured planets! Other powers are variable, drawn from "ideas" based on whatever is pulled inside of Macrocosm (such as heat/sun blasts if using a star-powered from inside him, or gravity powers from a black-hole, or a variation on powers of a superhero trapped inside, etc...)
GENERAL MACBRE
Campaign Level: Cosmic
Mini-Background: From a race of beings standing some 7' tall, the General is a large powerful human-like form, his race naturally born with two heads. The General's heads/style are much like Napoleon in look and tactical leadership. Brilliant tacticial and military might as well as a surprisingly tough physical combatant... but it is his multi-minds that function like a well oiled command structure of two generals to lead superpowered squads and vast armies and star-ships.
Key Concepts: The ultimate military tactician. Almost able to determine your next move calculate and beat you before you come to the battle, much in Sun Tzu's tradition of winning before the battle. He commands with precision and unmatched leadership, charisma and intimidation as needed. Minorly strong in all physical and mental categories as his race is naturally, but primarily with little actual powers, using gadgets and star-ships and armies instead. His side-arm (a *-like broomhandle blaster) disintegrates almost anything and if missing, the beam of energy turns like a homing missile to return on the target 2-3 panels in a row, attempting to hit again!!
FAST!!
Campaign Level: Cosmic
Mini-Background: Fast is simply the incarnation of speed, "found" or built into a sentient humanoid being through a mystical magic. Closer to a god such as Mercury than some "speed force". He is often confused at how it's possible that an opponent even saw him approach/attack, let alone find/attack or heaven forbid HIT him. afterall ... as he says: "How is that possible? I am FAST!!"
Key Concepts: The incarnation of speed. However his speed is not engaged in anything but his legs (i.e. No multi-punching with hands... but does attack with feet-kicks). He has the MOST actions/attacks the rule allow... His primary/only/simple tactic is to literally remain in another galaxy, monitoring the situation through comrades or communication-gadgets, then literally running to the combat with a "drive-by" as many attack as possible, then running back to safety in the next galaxy! His only drawback to this is getting * with his insane dodging ability and actually forgetting to "save" actions to run to the next galaxy, leaving him on-scene for opponents to see/attack him...
MJOLNIR
Campaign Level: Cosmic
Mini-Background: What is Thor was the myth and the reality was a living artifact in the form of a massive man with hammers for hands... That is Mjolnir. Not the sharpest tack in the drawer, he is literally pummelling power incarnate. Because when you have hammers for hands (when you ARE a hammer), everyone/thing looks like a nail!!
Key Concepts: Massive strength and power and a hard head as that of a dull hammer. His hammers can do many feats of pummelling style powers. From massive knockbacks, to hammering and moving planets. Or dazing oppoenent not usually able to be dazed or confused (think punch drunk boxing), making them forget things or lose intelligence with driving power punch hammer hits! Or even driving opponents into the ground.
WORLD NAIL
Campaign Level: Cosmic
Mini-Background: The being seen as a 20' long x 4' wide, square onyx monolith type railroad spike... black as space with glints of crystal-like stars in-bedded in the living iron. No one would think the obelisk is a living being, as it does little on it's own until "driven" into a planetoid or other large thing that it can then control...
Key Concepts: Having limited communication abilities, the World Nail scans it's local region (and can stretch this scan to a galaxy or more) to find the best option to Mind Control. That option's sole duty is then to take the Nail to a planetoid, moon, small world, or other non-sentient large body, even large capital ships! Then drive it in. The Nail prefers Mind Controlling beings that can carry, weild or drive it into the large body more quickly... but can slowly burrow itself in if needed. It's mind control is powered to mentally search for the best being to control, but does not have the ability to read minds or change them normally. Once driven into the large body, the Nail can then "animate" the body... creating "beings" from the surface to do it's bidding and changing the look/environment of the large body. Even able to "terraform" a moon to become life sustaining or even form large features (a face!) in the controlled/animated body. Drawing power from the planetoid to create various powers and effects. The ultimate power is a last ditch effort to explode or self-destruct the body for great destruction. The Nail has no propulsion or otherwise seems sentient until "animating" bodies!
KALIMUS
Campaign Level: Cosmic
Mini-Background: A massive alien race of 30' Jelly-Fish/Squid looking being. Unnusual for it's race (though higher than human average as a race), Kalimus is unique and vastly intelligent as a scientist, surprising many opponents and allies... but very very aggressive and prone to anger. He is a space-farring race that survives in space and requires breathing apparatus to live in atmosphere!
Key Concepts: All the powers you'd think a giant squid would have! Combined with the invisibility and stinging powers of a giant jelly-fish. Massive intelligence for scientific discovery and invention. Able to decipher and work with almost any alien technology. Grappling everything from multiple opponents at once to large vehicles and grabbing star-ships out of the sky is a key anger lash-out of Kalimus.
ALAN THE UNSPEAKABLE
Campaign Level: Cosmic
Mini-Background: AtU is a close to human type alien with vulture/bird-like sharp facial features... He is one of only a handful of his very unique cosmic race (his brother "Steven" is one of the only other's known, Steve being a bouncer at a cosmic casino-ship/city called the "Gitalong"). Looking much like a "Steve Buscemi" type normal little man, AtU is actually one of THE most powerful beings in reality. While the others of his limited race don't have aspirations for humiliating and controlling victims, Alan the Unspeakable (being the nerd to pick on of his race) is taking it out on everyone he can... His abilities are mostly defined around neutralization of opponents abilities and trying to demoralize them by telling them how sucky they are against him! He is immune to and can defeat ANY alien species or race with his abilities - except humans! Rather... his name is a word in every species that is unpronounceable, it is that ability to pronounce his name that only HUMANS have that make humans all but immune to his powers/nullifications! Hence he HATES humans and their stupid planet!!
Key Concepts: Though rarely used he does have abilities of attack forms by changing things to suit him, rarely blasting or overpowering things, usually changing and impairing. He is invulnerable to all alien races/species powers/attacks (except humans!), although he is not necessarily invulnerable to strong happenstance and non-direct attacks (a car falling on him), which might not defeat him, but would slow him down effectively. Unfortuanely for AtU, a simple normal human guy could punch him in the face and possibly knock him out!
thoughts??
