Sorry for resurrecting the thread, but I have a question.

If using a melee weapon, do I add the Heightened Modifier to the Damage? In other words, if my character with 2+3 Brawn hits his enemy with a sword, is the Damage (2d6*2)+13?

I personally consider RPG.net to be the 4chan of gaming. The signal-to-noise ratio is so low it gets frustrating having to dig through the sea of crap to find a nugget of information. Still, it is a widely-seen venue, so I suppose having a presence there can serve to achieve visibility. You have my ...

Are you aware that WEG came out with a Hercules/Xena RPG (RPG.NET reference link).

If you can find a copy, it might be a helpful font of source material.

You do realize there is, for example, a city named Metropolis in Illinois. If DC can let that slide, I'm sure Chris can handle some town in India. :)

I just play both! :-) Ah, if only I had willing players to do that. ;) Actually there is a potential supers game on the horizon. I'll see if I can campaign for using the Supers! rules to the GM. He tends to be reasonably flexible; by the same token, he plays very loose with any rules system he uses...

I went digging through my PDF files and found a copy of Supers! (Yes, I am that kind of person who trawls through RPGNow buying PDFs on a whim. ;) ) Now I need to sit down and read through it. Skimming the first few pages, I can see the minimalist approach someone mentioned. Still sticking to BASH f...

The superhero genre was (and still is) my top favorite for RPGs, all the way back to 1980 when I discovered it actually existed. I remember being at Origins and splurging all my cash picking up Superhero 2044 , V&V , and Superworld . The only reason I did not pick up Champions right then is because ...

Sir, you have eloquently stated your opinion and I could not agree more. If these forums had a reputation system, I would be sending some your way. :) As I mentioned before, I've played Champions since 1st Edition and for more than a decade it was our go-to system for just about any game. A couple o...

There is a feature that BASH has that it shares with M&M and is very helpful in emulating that aspect of the genre: Hero Points (and with BASH, Hero Dice). It's a great equalizer for having characters like Green Arrow or Black Widow work alongside heroes like Superman or Thor. It provides a way for ...

These are the statements I'm reacting to. As Dragonfly said, if you're encountering a lot of these, then you have/had a GM who isn't enforcing the genre well. Area affect attacks should not be the norm for ranged attacks; it isn't in the source material (comics, cartoons, etc), so if it is in a game...

*shrug* So you would say that a villain based on the Punisher wouldn't be using guns (RKAs)? Or that the ninja minions of the devious mastermind would somehow be armed with wooden bokken instead of swords? Killing attacks are part of the genre. When Spidey is bouncing around dodging as the Kingpin's...

Well, this is hardly the forum to discuss another company's game, so I won't get into it here, except to say that no matter how good your DCV is, an AOE will always hit, and all you need is one RKA to ruin your day. ;-) P.S. Oh, and, yeah, you can count me too among those who have played Champions/H...

I guess I'd "argue' that being normal in a world of supers should be a handicap. :) That's certainly true in some superhero sub-genres, but it's not really indicative of the genre as a whole. Like I said, this is not a damning criticism of the game by any means, merely a mechanic idiosyncrasy that ...

Well most super heroes don't have 1s in stats. I suppose if you want a quick fix, you can add a difficulty of "5" to the system, and move every difficulty down a step. Actually, what I was toying around with was taking it one step beyond and not basing the Difficulty on a 5 multiplier, (e.g. 10, 20...
