Superhero/villain vs. Superhero/villain
Who'd win in a fight?
BASH!-UP BEATDOWN

THIS ISSUE:
Captain America vs. the Amazing Spider-Man

What's going on? wrote:
This is a fun exercise... If you think you can "REPRESENT" your favorite hero/villain in this battle the best - STEP UP and volunteer to take on the weighted responsibility! The forum fans will help "referee" and "Narrate" this BASH!-UP BEATDOWN for all to witness!
Below are stat cards for each hero. These are the stats used for THIS battle, if you have differing opinions on stats - take it to ANOTHER fight. In this fight - it is what it is!!

So! Who wants to help by setting the stage for the battle?!!? Keep in mind, heroes should be in full control of their abilities and such, however - the situation as to WHY they're fighting MAY be due to a dastard villain OR simply a mistaken circumstance!
That's for our Narrator setting the scene to describe!!

For Hero Dice and Hero Point purposes, ON TOP of the standard 1 HD per issue, we will assume that the "Campaign Level" is 5 Hero Points higher than the character with the largest Character Point build (in this case Spidey), giving each character ONE Hero Die and the character with the lower Character Build Points the equivalent in Hero Points to make up the difference for the Issue! - This value is represented on the Character Sheets below.
You know the drill. We present the fight card, you geek out arguing over who'd win in a fight. And . . . go!

PS.... If you see any miscalculations on the sheets let me know.

His Agility and Brawn are only 3? I always assumed that one of his main things was that he was super nimble and nearly impossible to hit. Also, I know his strength is in the "picking up cars" category.

As I noted above....

No offense... but man.... I suppose that's the way online forums work...

Let's please not fall into the stat-bitching problem here.

But to help explain my stats listed...
I assume you're talking about Spider-Man.
So here's the deal... Take a look at the BASH! stat categories. Level 3 Brawn puts Peter in the category in which every previous official RPG has noted him, as well as all official Marvel Encyclopedia bios, as well as just in general from reading his comics.
And Spidey's agility (while very formitable) is not on level with Superman or the Flash. Again, from the BASH! stat categories - 3 sees to be the best slot.

This of course is MY list, but it's based 100% on BASH! UE stat category notes. Take a look.

Brawn 3.. IS picking up cars. Several Tons- as in more than just a few, less than a dozen. Most cars on the road are lighter than this.

Having recently done my own builds for both of these characters, I think these are both solid representations. I'm looking forward to seeing the results!

Agreed, what matters most is that the stats are balanced between the 2 opponents. And these are good Cap and Spidey builds and do appear balanced. That's what matters. So...."Let's get ready to RUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUMMMBLE!"

Btw, my $$ is on Webhead. Smile

It's all READY.
Thing is - I don't (personally) feel confident in my knowledge/play of BASH! yet to run with hero. So I was looking to see if folks that HAVE played to take the roles. It'd be cool if it were two different people.

Run this like a play-by-post in a way.
So..........
Who wants to take on the ROLES??

-kev-

PS.
If I were rebuilding Cap, I'd consider giving him the new "Heighten" power that was created on the Forums here. BASHMAN noted that it's a good power and would probably be in the Awesome Powers book.... so I'd be happy using it as an Errata.
What do folks think on use of Heighten for a different Cap build? (not changing this one)

Tomorrow I'm planning to meet with a couple gamers. I will print-out my versions of these characters and see if we can conduct a mock battle. Mine are in the low 30-point range, but otherwise very comparable to yours. I did use Heightened for Cap's brawn and agility.

We weren't able to do it, but at least we had some discussion about starting a BASH-powered campaign.

Here's one way that Spidey vs Cap may have unfolded:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Last night's brawl with Doc Ock seemed like a year ago, Spider-Man reflected, as he perched impossibly on the side of a sheer brick wall. Why were we fighting?, he thought briefly before another wave of fog enveloped his thoughts.
It didn't matter. There was something important he had to do.
Spider-Man fired-off a web and swung-out into the night with eery grace.

--------------------------------------------------------------

Steve Rogers was just getting out of the scale mail when his comm center sparked to life with an incoming encrypted vid-call. The SHIELD logo popped-up briefly, then Agent 13 appeared.
"Cap, pick up." she said, then quietly, "Steve... This is business. Something is wrong with one of your boys."
Rogers reached down to the panel and accepted the call, "Agent 13, how did you get stuck with the night shift?" Her head tilted and an amused smirk took shape, then she shook it off as a SHIELD uniform passed in the background. "Cap, its Spider-Man, he's acting peculiar - I mean - even more than usual."
"He's not really 'one of mine' anymore..."
"Understood, but check this out." she patched an electronic map into the vid and for the next few minutes she described how he disappeared for a few hours last night - not unusual - but since resurfacing, he's seemingly ignored a couple of chances to take action on events in his vicinity. She concluded, "Something seems odd, that's all. Would you mind checking on him?"
"He gets into all kinds of craziness. Why do you come to me?" Rogers crossed his arms and gave the camera a critical look.
"He still respects you Cap. Spidey won't share anything with one of our squads, you know that."
Rogers sighed and shoved his left arm back into an armored sleeve, "Alright, I'm sure it's nothing. Where is he now?"

--------------------------------------------------------------

Twenty-two minutes later, Cap's heavy roadbike rumbled through the light at 63rd Street and briskly turned left through oncoming traffic, causing a couple of sedans to bark in protest. Moments before, he had caught a glimpse of Spidey crawling toward a tilt-out window at the top of an industrial building. Cap turned off the lights as the bike coasted to a stop in the alley. He secured the bike and pulled the shield off his back.
The Super-Soldier recon'd the area with flawless efficiency. Spider-Man was not in sight, but Roger's figured he had gone in through that window. He thought, "Why is Spidey sneaking around a laser R&D facility?" Rogers jogged around to the side gate. There was a 12-foot high chainlink fence adorned with bristling razorwire and guard shack.
"Capn America?!", exclaimed the guard to himself. "Wait a sec, for real?"
"Its not Halloween son, I'm here on business. Get me inside." Cap's dead serious gaze emphasized the point.
The guard grabbed his radio and rapidly explained that the REAL Captain America was standing right here and that something was going down in the building.
The guard was obviously concerned, but Cap reassured him that if he lost job over this, he would find a better one for him.
The guard led him through two secure access points to get to the section of the building where Spider-Man must be snooping around. "What's going on? Why do you keep looking up?"
Cap didn't answer.

---------------------------------------------------------------

When the metal door opened abruptly and the lights came on, Spider-Man froze on the 30 foot ceiling of this large laser test lab. The room was full of high tech machinery, thick power cables, wheeled carts, slab tables, and most other common items one would find in an experimental facility. Spider-Man was not in plain sight, but he could be easily seen with little effort. He instantly recognized the silhouette; the shield.
"Spider-Man... If you can hear me, it's Captain America. Tell me what's going on."
Parker's brain struggled with the dilemma. Impulses told him to attack... NOW! While he has the jump on him! But he also knew that this man is a friend. "Another hero... Like me." he thought. But the thought turned back at him like a dagger.
"No! NOT like me. Not anymore!" Spider-Man attacked. Two webs enveloped the super-soldier and he fell back against the metallic bulkhead.
Cap strained against the webbing as Spider-Man swung down and landed before him. "Why did you come here?"
"I noticed you crawling around outside and came to see if you needed help" he explained as he turned the shield's edge on the webs.
"Did I LOOK like I needed help?!" Parker shouted back at him. And in that instant, Rogers tore free from the webs!
Spider-Man whirled with blinding speed and Cap got the shield up just enough to block his kick! Cap connected with a right cross, but Spidey rolled with it. Then a shield BASH attempt was easily dodged by the arachnid!
Spider-Man lashed out with webs but was off the mark... No... Wait! He actually snared a 200-pound generator and flung it towards Cap! The super-soldier absorbed the impact with the shield and turned it aside! The generator smashed across a laboratory counter leaving a sparkling wreckage of glass and liquids.
With Spider-Man on the move, Captain America decided to let the shield fly. He was very familiar with Spider-Man's elusiveness, so he threw the shield at a laser apparatus to distract his target with a shower of sparks and then banked the shield toward the web-slinger. Incredibly, through the sparks and a wicked shot, Spider-Man twisted in mid-air, landed on the sheer wall, and then launched toward to super-soldier!
Cap caught the star-spangled shield as Spider-Man bore down on him and he lashed out with a preemptive side kick from which Spider-Man easily twisted away. Spider-Man countered with a flying roundhouse kick to the head that sent Cap sprawling on the smooth concrete floor. A barrage of punches followed as Spider-Man tried to pummel him into submission and a couple of them connected, but Cap weathered the attack! Out of instinct, Cap threw a pair of punches and the second one cracked Spidey, staggering him back into a metal table!
Spider-Man shot webbing specifically at Cap's face, but again he blocked it with the shield and with the webs still attached, he flung the shield back at the arachnid, hitting him squarely in the chest! After staggering back a step, Spider-Man went aerial again and he swung over to a large laser and he began to turn it towards Cap.
Realizing what Parker had in mind, the super-patriot unleashed the shield at the laser itself. He put everything into it and the shield connected with a BASH! - opening up a huge crack in the metal casing, exposing electronic guts.
A frustrated Spider-Man came swinging at him with both feet. The double-kick only grazed Cap as rolled with it.
With surprising fluidity, Cap scooped-up his shield as Parker landed on the wall, then he attacked again with a full-bore back-handed fling. When the shield reached the target, Spider-Man was in mid-air, somersaulting towards Cap! The shield reverberated with a clang off of the metallic wall, as Spider-Man cut loose with both webs, once again engulfing Cap. But this time the shield returned only to clatter on the cold hard floor next to Rogers.
The super-soldier strained hopelessly against the webs as Spider-Man informed him that he need not get involved in his business. Spider-Man pulled a part from the damaged laser housing and was gone.

Note: Once Cap was immobilized without his shield, it would take him a long time to get free again. He did have one exploding roll of 33, but he needed 40 to break-out. They both had plenty of health left: Cap 88, Spiderman 79.

I know, and its small thing. But Spidey should have Chemistry not Physics. Smile

I'd be up to run one of them through a play_by_post match up, I was particularly impressed with low cost of the builds and yet they captured the essence of the characters. Good work Smile

I am starting up a game next week, so if you fancy a quick battle I could do with the refresher.

I will happily play either.
