You bought Special Attack 2 (Attack Only). I figured this meant that both points were being used to add to hit.

You have Agility 3. +2 hit is actually x5 (I misread earlier and thought it was Agility 2).
You have Brawn of 3. +0 DM = x3 Dmg.

So the club as written does x5 Hit, x3 Dmg. (You were right. I misread it earlier)

If you want the Special Attack 2 to be +1 Hit, +1DM, change it to that in the part where you wrote (Attack Only).

With +1 hit +1Dm it would be x4 Hit, x4 Damage; which with Attack Weak Point would be pretty nasty, but wouldn't trigger Attack Weak Point as frequently as x5 Hit, x3 Dmg...

Alright!

I've gone through all of the characters up to this point and checked to see if I had built them right after reading:

http://bashtalk.org/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=239

Luckily they were for the most part already spot on, numbers wise. The only one that required a large change was Echo... but it worked out in her favor. Bashman, your game impresses me more and more the farther into the details I get (I'm very OCD about game mechanics), but may I suggest an addition to the errata that explains what's in the post I linked to above? I can't find anywhere in the rules that actually say all that. You could just add it to the end of the first paragraph under "Power Enhancements" on pg. 38... just a suggestion. Thank you!

what do you want me to put in errata? That Ricochet is an area effect?

Sorry, no. I wasn't very clear about that. I simply didn't read the book closely enough. An errata isn't necessary for this. I guess when I first got the book, I assumed that since it was "rules lite" that it meant "don't bother to read all of it". I've learned my lesson!

My next character is not quite done, but I thought I'd post it here in-work for comments/suggestions.

The basic idea is something like an Underwater Batman. I don't have any backstory figured out yet, and I need to build his super vehicle and HQ, but the core character himself is built. Let me know what you think!

O.R.C.A
Ocean Rescue Combat Armor

B 2 A 2 M 1
Attribute Cost: 10

Advantages:
-Super Vehicle (a mini-sub)
-Headquarters (I'm going to build a fake blue whale that he actually lives inside of... maybe. Maybe just a domed facility)
-Resources

Disadvantages:
-Arch Enemy (Nightfall (character coming soon!)
-Normal
-Secret (if anyone finds out he's still alive, his crime fighting career is over and he'll probably go to jail)

Powers:

The whole set up is a suit, but it's composed of several devices, so there are no multi-powers and he can use them together as he needs them. It's like a super version of a SCUBA setup.

Powers:
SuperSwimming 3
SuperSpeed 3
Immunity 1 Suffocation
Resistance 1 Pressure, Cold
Armor 2
Invisibility 1 (only underwater)
SuperSenses 2 (Sonar)
Cost: 13

Net Gun (Immobility 2, Range 2, Area 1 Small burst) easy to lose gadget
Cost: 4, total powers cost 17

Weakness: Damaging Weakness to electricity
Total Cost: Attributes 10, Powers 17, Weakness -2 = 25

SKILLS:
(In Work)

He's still got a lot of work, but I like it so far. Comments?
NOTE: Major changes as suggested by Bashman... his comments made sense for the character.

Very intriguing, Aardvark! I like both the Headquarters options (or even a domed HQ that moves, camouflaged as a giant jellyfish)! Please post his background when you finish it!

OMG. Perfect picture. I hadn't even started a background, and that picture totally just filled in all the blanks for me. I gotta go to training this morning, but tonight I'll be finishing up ORCA (and BTW I added what the initials stand for)

Thanks, Bashie!

Yes- I wanted one with him wearing some underwater gear. I hoped to find one with a spear gun... alas.

O.R.C.A
Ocean Rescue and Combat Armor

The Story

Robert "Bobby" Lambert is a fifth generation marine scientist, and the son of Pierre Lambert, famous host of his own marine exploration series on Animal Planet. None of the Lambert sons ever had to work for a living; the original Robert Lambert circa the 1890's made a fortune exploiting the treasures of the ocean. The generations since have used that fortune to try to return some of what was stolen to the environment, and they have all had their hands in one way or another into Oceanic preservation

Bobby was content to follow in his father's footsteps and take over hosting of the show... until that fateful day when and unknown assassin in an oily black costume destroyed his fathers ship during filming of the carnage being caused by the oil rig disaster in the Gulf of Mexico. His father was on the verge of being able to prove that the company responsible was actually hindering the clean up for financial reasons.

All were thought lost aboard ship, including Bobby, but he was lucky... kinda. When he found himself washed ashore, covered head to toe in oil and being helped by a group of strangers who did not know him, he decided (once he found out that the world thought him dead) to use his fortune and new found anonymity to fight corruption and evil all around the worlds oceans.

Helped by a personal servant of the Lambert family who was himself a fifth generation family servant, Bobby was able to funnel the vast Lambert family wealth into hundreds of secret holdings and investments that could not be tracked back to him.

Using an army of underwater construction robots purchased through a Lambert company, and programmed himself, Bobby was able to construct a huge underwater living space that looks exactly like a living Blue Whale, and it also houses a mini-sub (that uses the whale's mouth as a garage door). This whale follows a real pod of whales which is being monitored and tracked by a research organization funded wholely by a Lambert family grant.

Only the lead researcher knows of the whale's true nature, and of Bobby Lambert's story. He is a lifelong family friend and he helps keep the cover story intact.

During the course of his exploits as "O.R.C.A.", Bobby Lambert learne of "Nightfall", the assassin who took his father's life. He seeks now to find the assassin and bring him to justice.

His sea-green armored diving suit has devices installed all over to help Bobby move underwater as quickly as possible. Mini-rocket propulsion pods in his flippers and along his arm push him through the water faster than any ever thought possible. A fine mesh latticework covers the suit, and if Bobby holds still underwater he appears to be a coral formation, almost completely invisible. The air system in the suit is self regenerating, and it can adjust moment by moment to nearly eliminate the bends.

I've had to make some minor changes to just about all of my builds. With Push granting it's level in Range automatically, as well as Boost not getting a point back for the drawback, I discovered almost all of my characters had minor 1 or 2 point errors. I think I've got them all fixed now.

Ack! Aardvark, I think you missed Bashman's response that Push does not get its level in Range automatically. You still have to pay for range, just like you do in Special Attack.

I'd take 2 points out of Super Swimming and increase Brawn to 2. That should make a big difference. You can still say the higher Brawn is only while wearing the armor (the Normal Advantage). For someone to be able to move effortlessly underwater, they'd need to be strong- the suit probably helps with that.

With an Agility of 1 he's going to be a very easy target, and have a hard time hitting with anything other than a Burst attack. I'd raise it to at least a 2, maybe taking 1 point out of Armor (since Brawn is now higher) and 2 points out of Immunity (Pressure & Cold) which is replaced with 1pt of Resistance (Pressure & Cold).

The result would be your character has the same point cost, and Soak. You end up with 8squares of underwater movement (instead of 6), x2 Defense (instead of x1), An extra physical skill (maybe have Athletics x2/Swim and Pilot x2/Subs), Science/Marine Biology). He is not immune to pressure or cold, but is resistant to it- meaning that he takes half damage from them before applying his x4 Soak. However that should be adequate vs. all but the most extreme cold or pressure.
