Science is nothing more than a dogmatic, fanatical, bigotted cult. They're really nothing more than a cult that formed to oppose christianity, even though they're just an off-shot of it and that's pretty obvious.

They're bigots, nihilists, and bullies whose only reason to exist is to annihilate all hope, meaning, and reason. I imagine several of you are familiar with doctor manhatten? That's normal scientific beliefs. They don't care about life, they don't care about humans or dignity or right and wrong. They claim the only 'goal' of life, is to advance their own cult. That's it.

And for a cult that supposedly relies heavily on reason, its quite shocking how reliant they are on bullying to get converts. I mean seriously, you meet any science cultist when you're not one, they just bully you and put you down nonstop for being 'stupid'. They brainwash you into believing that the only way you can NOT be a complete bumbling idiot, is to believe in science. Even though believing in evolution and whatnot doesn't make you smarter. Note the few of their fanatical followers actually have any understanding of it, or any part of science. Really, the priests of science only acknowledge other scientists are being a part of their cult, even though they obviously want everyone to be a part of it.

Of course, there's no such thing as an intelligent scientist. There simply isn't. If you were honestly capable of reason, you wouldn't do anything. Science teaches that there's no point to anything, and what you do makes no fucking difference. Logically then, it doesn't matter if you join the cult of science or not. Or any religion. After all, nothing makes any difference. Nothing you do will change the fact that everything will one day be completely erased. According to their own laws, there is no point in doing anything. Therefore, if you invest a huge amount of your money and time to brainwashing yourself with occultic garbage, you obviously are incapable of thinking your own philosophy all the way through.

There's no such thing as a good and rational scientist. Their philosophy doesn't allow it. And even ignoring that, its impossible to ignore the damage they've done to our world. And they will destroy it sooner or later. And that's not my opinion, even scientists preach that. Hell, Steven Hawking himself believes that. So then, why do they continue??? Because they don't care. After all, everything will be annihilated one day anyway, so what's the harm in destroying it early? At least they get an ego boost from deluding themselves into thinking they're the most advanced beings in the universe.

Hey, xBlackWolfx, I love the passion you have for your convictions and can certainly understand where you are coming from. The sciences being explored today are so much farther from what Benjamin Franklin was messing around with using a key and a kite. There's no possible way the average Joe can perform most of these experiments to see for themselves the validity of the scientific claims being made today. To be honest, most of us just have to take it on faith that they are not trying to pull a fast one over on us.

Thankfully, the world of superheroes exists more in the realm of make-believe science, and no matter what our beliefs, we can all pretty much agree that, for good or bad, comic-book science is great fodder for the kinds of stories we want to tell. They can be the woeful tales of scientific hubris (oh no, the world is in danger again because of some crazy scientific experiment gone wrong), or a thankful deliverance when it provides the heroes with a faster-than-light travel option to go confront the Alpha-Centaurans in their home system! In both cases its the story that matters most.

Have you got a name yet for your telekinetic hero?

My wife is a scientist. She is intelligent. You're done.

A quick Google search turns up that a user called xBlackWolfx is banned permanently from RPGNet, GiantITP.com, as well as from aveneca.com (a site for discussing invented languages), and several other sites.

I have seen a few. There is also a BASH! Facebook group and a World of Superhero RPGs group that might be another good place to recruit for online games.

I have a plot, but I can't think of an origin story for the main character. He's a telekinetic who besides being able to move objects and fly can also create forcefields and sent out blasts of 'telekinetic' energy.

I can't think of an origin for his powers. I don't like the idea of a mutant. In my world, 'mutants' don't get new abilities humans don't possess. They essentially just become stronger, faster, or super intelligent.

And like I've said, I despise science. I don't want to write a scientist character, or someone who got their powers from a scientific accident or experiment. Maybe I'm just being foolish. I like superheroes obviously, and I want to write them, but I hate science. Isn't that a bit of a contradiction? And my favorite DC character is Batman of all things.

I've thought about giving him a magic origin, but I think having him gain his powers from a magic artifact would make him look like a rip-off of green lantern. But I'm thinking I may have to lean towards that.

There was a minor DC character called Peter Cannon Thunderbolt. He was not a metahuman but got his powers by unlocking the secret powers of the mind by way of a Tibetan monastery. So you can have the idea that everyone has the potential to use mental powers it just takes discipline and the right teaching.

My players and I have been playing BASH games recently [Play by Post, on Discord]. Our next game will probably be the ancient Greece one, but using time-displaced heroes.

We get together to play every evening, though what we play depends on who is available. Also, it turned out we could not play the Age of Olympus game because its for 30-point characters.

However, you're welcome to join us, we often need a fourth player to round out parties. And I'm currently converting several Mutants & Masterminds villains to BASH for our use. Just let me know and I'll get you a server invite.
